Hey there

There is not so much difference between territory and union territory as the meanings of both are same. Normally territory refers to an area that is under the jurisdiction of a Sovereign state. The union territory as also the same meaning which refers to a administrative area that is ruled by the union government like Jammu Kashmir is also a union territory in India which is directly controlled by the central government of India.
