Hey,
To apply for the Integrated PhD program at any IISER basic eligibility is 60% at your graduation level. Along with that you need to have good JAM score. For Integrated PhD in Physics JEST score is also accepted. Based on that you'll be shortlisted for interview. Now some IISER also have a written test for shortlisted candidates after which they select for interview.
In order to be shortlisted you need to first apply to your preferred IISER before deadlines.
Duration of integrated PhD is around 6 years. After completion of 6 years they will be given both master's and doctoral degree .
First four semesters that is two years is mostly course work after which doctoral research work starts. Students can also exit after successfully completing their two year course work. However, they will have to complete one more year of research as part of their MSc thesis.
As for direct recruitment in ISRO/DRDO, there is no direct placement by IISER. You'll have to look for vacancies and apply for position in ISRO on your own. You will surely be at advantage because of all the skills and knowledge you have gained at IISER. Applying and looking for vacancies you'll have to do that on your own.
I hope I have answered your questions.
ALL THE BEST!
Hey,
I don't think any IISER in India provides specialised MS programs. They usually offer integrated BS-Ms or integrated PhD programs.
Also there is no astrophysics specialization as such, you do get to study subjects of astronomy and astrophysics. Admissions are done under Integrated PhD in Physics or physical sciences.
Total 244 seats are available at IISER Mohali and these are distributed among their BS-MS, integrated PhD and PhD programs. There are no fixed number seats for any program.
For other IISERs like IISER Pune it's 288, Bhopal 252, Kolkata 240.
For further information you can look upto the official website, admission dates and process is mentioned over there in detail.
Hope this helps.
As per the internet, IISER KOLKATA in collaboration of CESSI offers this MS Astrophysics with research course. The Institute offers some fellowship and the admission is provided on the basis of both GATE and JEST.
Apart from this I don't get any other IISER's matching with the course description.

Eligibility criteria for MS in IISER is; bachelor degree in Engineering or Physics with first class or equivalent grade point average and qualification in either GATE or any other national eligibility test such as JEST. Qualify GATE with good percentile and join Integrated PhD (i.e MSc/MTech + PhD) at IISER.
Hi
MSc astrophysics as in is a branch of physics. So out of 29 subjects Gate has to offer you are supposed to go for physics.
Second point is the choice of gate subject should be the one closest to or the same as your undergraduate or BSc or BE specialization rather than the course you are GOING to pursue in future and its also specifically mentioned in GATE notification. If you are going to pick up something else other than what you have studied in UG it will be very Difficult to prepare as the gate syllabus is completely based on the UG or BSc or BE syllabus and to top it all Gate is a difficult exam to crack or score even if you are appearing for your own subject. Though they have given 2 paper options but even then the allowed combinations are fixed and decided other than that combinations you can't choose anything else. For eg if physics is one paper you have opted for then you can opt for 2nd paper which is only related to physics meaning keeping physics as a main paper you can go for geophysics or electronics. They have also mentioned that the exam centers for the two papers might be different so think ,decide and choose wisely.
I would suggest that you choose your graduation subject and not to make it difficult as it already is moreover its easier to appear for the subject you are already acquainted of or have already studied. Rest I leave the decision to you.
If you have any other query let me know.

Incase youre seriously Interested in Research in Science, have plans to go for a PhD as well have the intellect to crack seat in IISc Bangalore either through JEE or KVPY, you may pursue that definitely. Otherwise prefer IITs, as you have wider options including Placements, Research as well as Study and Research Groups relevant to every domain. NISER amd UM-DAE CBS are mainly if youre interested in Physical & Chemical Sciences especially from the Nuclear Technology Aspect. Incase youre interested in Research to the Core of your heart, but are not able to crack a Seat in IISc, but have done well in JEE Advanced, you may opt for some of the Good IISERs in that case
hello anusha !!
i am afraid that you may not be able to upload your 12th marksheet after submitting the application form of IISER. If there is a change in the percentage of the marks you secured then there is slight chance for you to do so.
you need to upload your original mark sheet in the application portal but the percentage in the application form should be the revised one. The revised marks statement from your board conrming the change of marks must be sent to ask-jac2021[AT]iiserkol.ac.in with a subject line “Revised Marks”. You should also mention your application number in the subject line. Please check the timelines in the following link :
http://www.iiseradmission.in/dates.html
if that’s not the case then kindly mail your problem to the following :
ask-jac2021[AT]iiserkol.ac.in
for more details see :

You have nothing to worry about it. As you have selected the result awaiting option then you should wait for some time and IISER will release notification for the update of marks in the portal. You will have to update the marks at that time online. So you should keep an eye on the official website.
