Abdulkalam Institute of Technological Sciences, Khammam Admission Process

Abdul Kalam Institute of Technological Sciences (AKITS), Khammam, is a well-known institution that provides a variety of engineering and management courses. The admission process at AKITS is made to choose talented and deserving students through different national and state-level entrance tests. The institute, which is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), has a systematic admission process for its varied programs.

The admission process of AKITS typically starts in May-June for the August-September starting academic year. Undergraduate engineering admissions are largely done through TS EAMCET scores. Postgraduate admissions are done through test scores such as GATE, TS PGECET, and TSICET, based on the program.

Eligibility criteria differ with courses. For B.Tech courses, the applicants should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the mandatory subjects. A minimum aggregate of 50% in the qualifying exam is required for most of the courses. Postgraduate candidates should be a holder of the bachelor's degree in the relevant subject from a recognized institution.

AKITS accepts scores of various entrance exams for different courses:

  • B.Tech: TS EAMCET, JEE Main
  • M.Tech: GATE, TS PGECET
  • MBA: TSICET
  • Diploma Courses: TS POLYCET

Application Process

Application procedure of AKITS depends on the course:

For B.Tech courses:

1. Clear TS EAMCET or JEE Main exam.
2. Get registered for state-level counseling process.
3. Choose AKITS and preferred courses during counseling.
4. If allotted a seat, report to AKITS for verification of documents and payment of fees.

For M.Tech programmes:

1. Clear GATE or TS PGECET examination.
2. Apply under the state-level counseling process.
3. Report to the counseling and choose AKITS if found eligible.
4. Complete admission formalities at the institute if allotted a seat.

For MBA programme:

1. Clear TSICET examination.
2. Report to the state-level counseling process.
3. Choose AKITS at the time of counseling if found eligible.
4. Report at the institute during admission on allotment of the seat.

For Diploma courses:

1. Obtain TS POLYCET exam score.
2. Appear for state-level polytechnic counseling for admission.
3. Opt AKITS along with desired diploma course during counseling.
4. Complete admission process at AKITS on allotment of the seat.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech: AKITS provides 8 B.Tech programs such as Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The admissions are mostly based on TS EAMCET ranks. The B.Tech total intake is 420. The applicants should have passed 10+2 with PCM subjects and should have passed TS EAMCET or JEE Main.

M.Tech: The institute offers M.Tech in Thermal Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, and Computer Science and Engineering. The institute offers admissions based on GATE or TS PGECET scores. All these courses have an intake of 18 seats. The candidates must have a corresponding B.E./B.Tech degree.

MBA: AKITS provides an MBA course with 60 seats. Admission is by TSICET scores. Candidates shortlisted may be asked to appear for other selection procedures. A bachelor's degree in any discipline is the minimum qualification.

Diploma: Diploma education in different engineering streams such as Computer Science Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering is offered by the institute. Admission is given through TS POLYCET. Diploma admission capacity is 300 seats.

Admission documents usually needed:

  • Passport size photographs
  • 12th and 10th marks card and certificate
  • Entrance exam score card (TS EAMCET/JEE Main/GATE/TS PGECET/TSICET/TS POLYCET as applicable)
  • Category certificate (wherever necessary)
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (wherever necessary)
  • Aadhar card
  • Any other certificate which may be necessary as per instructions by the institute or counseling authority
