Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology, Birbhum is one of the most familiar constituent colleges laid in the foundation in the year 2009. Spread over 7.9 acres, the affiliated college is located in Ganpur, West Bengal. The All India Council for Technical Education has granted this institute approval to conduct quality education and training in its manifold disciplines in the field of engineering. At this juncture, BIET offers 6 different diploma courses under 1 degree programme, with 851 enrollments. With a faculty strength of 48 dedicated professionals, the student-faculty ratio is pretty commendable for ensuring personal attention and academic excellence.

Basantika Institute of Engineering and Technology has ample state-of-the-art facilities that enhance the learning experience of the students. Every department has well-equipped laboratories to provide hands-on training in technical education. Institute Central Library functions as the knowledge hub of the institution, with its vast collection of books, periodicals, magazines, and digital resources. The state-of-the-art facilities at it includes two air-conditioned computer labs, with 50 computers each, connected via LAN. Classrooms are well equipped with ultra-modern teaching aids like LCD projectors and computer systems to equip the process of teaching-learning with interactive learning sessions.

It offers different types of full-time diploma courses in engineering, each of three-year duration. In the list, there are courses such as Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Technician Electronic Radio. All these programmes have been designed to meet diversified interests and industrial demand. The total approved intake of students in all courses comes to the figure of 360. 

The admission process in BIET is designed to be inclusive and based on merit. The candidate seeking admission shall have to be an Indian citizen and should have passed or appeared in the secondary examination of WBBSE or any equivalent board. The minimum eligibility criteria are to secure at least 35% marks in aggregate, without additional subjects bundled out, and securing 45% marks in Physical Science/Science and Mathematics combined.
