Bihar Veterinary College, Patna Admission Process

Bihar Veterinary College, Patna is a renowned institution for Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry. As it is a constituent college of Bihar Animal Sciences University, a rigorous and very competitive admission process is adopted to choose the finest students. The college offers an extensive variety of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate courses related to various domains within veterinary science. The admission cycle for Bihar Veterinary College usually starts in May-June for the academic year beginning in August-September. The institute receives applications through national level entrance exams, and each program has its own exam. NEET, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is conducted by the National Testing Agency for undergraduates under all admissions. MA-Master's course admissions are obtained through ICAR AIEEA for further postgraduate and Ph.D. courses.

The basic qualifying form to be admitted to the B.V.Sc & A.H. program is a 10+2 course including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology. In addition, candidates must qualify in NEET-UG, which is the necessary requirement for gaining admission through it. Applicants for Master of Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc) programs must hold an appropriate Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science from a recognized university. A Master's degree is required for those aspiring to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field. The ICAR AIEEA-PG exam for M.V.Sc admissions is usually organized in the month of July along with counseling dates in early January of the following consecutive year. 

Application Process

Application forms for Bihar Veterinary College are different for each of the programs:

For B.V.Sc and Animal Husbandry:

  1. Compulsory NEET-UG of NTA.
  2. Qualifying NEET-UG with the states cut-off score.
  3. Register for the BCECE counseling when announced.
  4. Fill the online application form at the BCECE website.
  5. Upload the required documents and pay the application cost.
  6. Attend the counseling process as per the schedule.

For M.V.Sc and Ph.D programs:

  1.  ICAR AIEEA-PG (for M.V.Sc) or ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF (for Ph.D) must be taken.
  2. Qualify the respective examination with the appropriate score.
  3. When proclaimed (e.g., as is the time traditionally in January) register for ICAR counseling.
  4. Online application form filling on the ICAR website.
  5. Upload the documents required and pay the counseling fee.
  6. Participate in online counseling which includes registration, choice filling, and seat allotment.

Degree wise Admission Process

B. V. Sc and Animal Husbandry: Admission to this undergraduate program is now made based on the performance in NEET-UG. The counseling is done by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) Board, Patna. Candidates will be selected purely on the basis of the merit in NEET and also as per the reservation policy of the Bihar Government.

M.V.Sc: Bihar Veterinary College offers 15 specializations for M.V.Sc with a total of 61 seats. The selection is based on the ICAR AIEEA-PG merit list. Further choice of subjects in counseling will be based on availability of seats and reservation policies. In case of a tie, the Bachelor's degree performance and age seniority will be considered.

Ph.D: The college provides 12 specializations for Ph.D with 16 seats in total. The admission shall be determined on the basis of candidates scores in the ICAR-AICE-JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) examination. The selection process will depend on the merit list, and in case of a tie, the Master's degree performance and age will be taken into account.

Typical documents required include:

  • NEET/ICAR AIEEA score cards
  • Mark sheets and certificate for 10th and 12th standard
  • Graduation or Post-graduation mark sheets and degree certificate (for PG and Ph.D. applicants)
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Valid ID proof.

The college not only provides the good academics in addition to that it also helps the students in research . And in my opinion it is a very good college for the higher education . . Even though it is public institute it gives the quality education .

Fee annually based on category like :

General: Rs. 10,000/-

OBC/EBC: Rs. 8835/-

SC: around Rs. 7000/-

in the starting of joining the course then every semester registration of 3000/-. All fees along with tuition fee is included in this, no extra hidden fees is to be given.
