Department of Computer Science, University of Delhi, Delhi Admission 2025: Dates, Registration, Fees, Eligibility

This is more than just a computer science department in an internationally reputed university in India; it offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in computer science and related specialized disciplines. The admission procedure uses various entrance examinations that differ from one program to another to select talented students according to the merit criterion.

The period for the department in terms of admission usually occurs every July-August in consideration of the next academic year. To gain entry to an undergraduate program, the following method is through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG). The criteria differ from one program to another but in general require using 10+2 or equivalent for all undergraduate courses and a relevant bachelor's degree for all master's programs.

For the postgraduate admission process, the department considers multiple criteria that include entrance examination performance, previous academic grades, and in some cases interviews. Admission to the PhD has a different, specific procedure, focusing on assigned aptitude tests and academic performance records.

Application Process

Different courses in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Delhi have different application processes:

For undergraduate programs: B.Sc Computer Science Hons, B.A. Computer Applications, B.Sc Mathematics:

1. Register yourselves for the CUET UG exam at the official NTA website.
2. Fill out the application form for the CUET UG exam. Giving all necessary details and preferences.
3. Pay the required application fee as per category. 4. Sit for the CUET UG exam on the date notified.
5. After results have been announced, the application is made to the University of Delhi through the centralized admission portal at the university.
6. Select the Department of Computer Science as well as the preferred course.
7. Proceed with the document verification and fee payment if one has met the cut-off criteria.

1. For M.Sc Computer Science: 1. Direct admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) from DU: Apply through the Postgraduate Admission Portal of the 

1. University of Delhi concerning the 50% seats in the direct admission process. 

2. Entrance-based admission (50% seats): 

1. Register for the entrance exam on the university website. 
2. Pay the application fee and submit the form. 
3. Appear for the entrance exam, and interview if shortlisted. 
4. Final selection will be based on the combined score of the entrance test (85% weightage) and interview (15% weightage).

For MCA Program:

1. Apply either via the appropriate department website or the centralized admission portal of the university.
2. Pay the application fee.
3. Take the entrance exam, which will be conducted by the department.
4. If shortlisted, attend the interview.
5. The final selection will be made on the basis of the performance in both the entrance test and interview.

For PhD Program:

1. Check in to find a PhD admission announcement on the department website.
2. Fill the application form along with required documents, including the research proposal.
3. Pay the application fee.
4. Write the entrance test and/or interview conducted at the department schedules. 5. Complete the process to register for the doctoral program if selected.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Sc (Hons) Computer Science: Admission is based on the candidate's performance in CUET UG. It aims to build a strong foundation in principles and applications of computer science.

B.A. Computer Applications: This also uses CUET UG scores for admission. It is a balanced mixture of computer science and application-oriented courses.

B.Sc Mathematics: Admission is via CUET UG, and it caters to students interested in the mathematics of computer science.

M.Sc Computer Science: The admission process consists of two parts as follows:  

1. 50% of the total seats will be on the basis of merit in B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science, University of Delhi.
2. Of the rest, 50% filled through an entrance test and interview; the final merit list will give 85% weightage for the entrance, and 15% will go to the interview.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications): Admission to this program is usually based on the entrance examination and interview conducted by the college. This course is designed for students with a keen interest in studying the advanced usage of computers and knowledge in computer applications.

The doctoral program is offered to research-oriented students by the department. Without going into specificity, it cannot be excluded that admission usually entails a pretty rigorous selection process that tends to include an entrance test and/or interview strictly analyzing research potential and academic background.

Documents generally required are:

• Mark sheets and certificates of 10th, 12th, and graduation (as applicable)
• Category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
• Entrance exam score card (CUET UG for undergraduate programs)
• Valid ID proof
• Character certificate from the last attended institution
• Migration certificate (for students from other universities)
