The total seats in B.Tech programs are 210. Admission is on the basis of rank obtained in competitive entrance examinations and percentage in the qualifying examinations, as per AICTE and university guidelines.
Diploma: Diploma courses in Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are offered by the institute, with a capacity of 120 seats. The process of admission is akin to B.Tech, with regards to ranks in entrance exams and percentages of qualifying examinations.
BBA: There is a Bachelor of Business Administration course with 30 seats. Although admission specifics are not mentioned, it is supposed to be merit-based admission based on 10+2 academic performance.
BCA: The BCA course has 60 seats. Admission criteria are not mentioned but presumably are determined on the basis of 10+2 marks and perhaps an entrance exam.

Thapar University is a private and autonomous engineering college.
Faculty at Thapar is I would say overall good but still exceptions are always there. Some departments like electrical and electronics have not so good faculty whereas CS and mechanical has very good faculty.Also most of the teachers are interested in teaching.

You might have some chances of getting an MBA seat in government college and high chances of getting into a private institute.
