Government College for Arts adheres to a merit-based admission policy for all programs in the college. Admissions take place every May or June, every academic year that begins in August or September.
To enroll in an undergraduate program, it is first required to complete 10+2 successfully with a recognized board. Selection will be based on the candidate's best academic qualifications and aptitude for fine arts.
Application Process

Degree wise Admission Process
BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts): BFA programs offered by the college include Applied Art, Graphics, Sculpture, and Painting. Each one has a maximum intake of 15 students. The admission process of a particular applicant will consequently then rely on their 10+2 results and suitability for the specific art discipline. The total fee charged for every BFA programme is Rs 45,320.
MFA (Master of Fine Arts): MFA courses in Sculpture, Applied Art, Painting, and Graphics are offered. In total, the MFA in Painting has a capacity of 10 seats. Entry to MFA courses is determined by the candidate being admitted based on his/her performance at the undergraduate level and by way of the portfolio of work in the area of interest to the candidate.
Dipoma in Fine Arts for Divyang: A unique program that has an intake of 4 is held according to merit, on the basis of the special needs of differently-abled (Divyang) students.
Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts for Divyang: Similar to the diploma program, this advanced course benefits from 4 students, and again, considering merit-based admission.

The eligibility criteria to get admission in Government college of Arts, Chandigarh in Bachelor's of FIne Arts is that a candidate must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent recognized by the syndicate of the Punjab University.Candidates belonging to general category must have passed with atleast 40% marks and for SC/ST is is 35% marks.Marks calculated taken best of 5 subjects including atleast one language.
