Government Dental College and Hospital, Medical College Campus, Aurangabad Admission Process

Government Dental College and Hospital, Aurangabad Medical College Campus, is one of the foremost institutions for dental studies in Maharashtra, India. The Dental College is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and has a very rigorous admission procedure focusing on selecting only the most able for various dental programs. The admission process is based mainly on entrance exams at the national level so that a fair competition may be upheld during selection.

Undergraduate admissions for the college are offered based on qualifying marks at the national level on the NEET-UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Undergraduate). This examination is conducted every year across India for the aspirants of dental studies. The admission procedure for NEET-UG is generally held by February with the examination in May. The result is then announced by June with following-up counseling sessions for the allotment of seats.

Postgraduate admissions in MDS programs are based on NEET-MDS (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for MDS). This examination is commonly taken during March, with applications formally beginning by February. Results are usually released by March or April, and following that counseling will start for allotting seats across specializations.

Application Process

The Government Dental College and Hospital, Aurangabad, has different modes of application for UG and PG:

For BDS(NEET-UG):

1. To apply for NEET-UG, one should register on the official website (generally opens in February).
2. Fill out the application form and pay the requisite fee.
3. Appear for the NEET-UG exam (generally held in May).
4. After declaration of the results take part in the state-level counseling process.
5. Report to the college for document verification and admission formalities, if a seat is allotted.

For MDS(NEET-MDS):

1. To apply for NEET-MDS, one should register on the official website (generally opens in February).
2. Complete the application and pay the application fee.
3. Appear for the NEET-MDS exam (generally held in March).
4. Enter the counseling process for MDS admission after the result.
5. If placed, report to the college for document verification and admission protocol.

Degree-wise Admission Process

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): 63 seats are granted for BDS Mob. Seat allotment is strictly based on the NEET-UG score. The course is for 5 years with a compulsory rotating internship for one year. The total fee for the completion of the BDS course is approximately Rs. 513,250.

MDS (Master of Dental Surgery): The college recognizes various MDS specializations with different seat distributions:

1. MDS Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge: 6 seats
2. MDS Periodontology: 3 seats
3. MDS Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics: 3 seats
4. MDS Oral Medicine and Radiology: 3 seats
5. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: 3 seats
6. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology: 3 seats
7. MDS Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: 3 seats

Admission in all MDS programs is based purely on NEET-MDS scores. The duration of MDS programs is 3 years on average. 

Admission requires, in general:

  • NEET score card
  • Mark sheets and certificates for the 10th and 12th standards
  • BDS degree certificate and mark sheets (for MDS candidates)
  • Proof of identity
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recently taken passport-size photographs
