Govt. Dental College and Hospital, Srinagar (GDCH) is a reputed institution which provides quality education in dentistry as well as health services. The college is affiliated with the university of Kashmir and recognized by the Dental Council of India to offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate dental courses. The admission process at GDCH is governed in such a way so as to select the most deserving candidates through national level entrance examinations. Usually, the admission cycle of GDCH runs along with the national calendar of dental education. To qualify for undergraduate admission, students must have completed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for undergraduate students. Meanwhile, worth mentioning is the postgraduate admission that will be made through the NEET MDS examination. Dates on when these exams will be held are published and circulated by concerned conducting authorities each year.
To be eligible for admission to the BDS degree, candidates must have completed the 10-2 level of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology being necessary subjects. A candidate is also expected to satisfy other minimum age and score requirements laid down by the concerned authorities. MDS eligibility criteria include the requirement of a BDS degree recognized from accredited institutions and completion of his/her internship. For admission to postgraduate dental courses, GDCH mainly relies on NEET MDS. The schedule for NEET MDS admission into PG courses at GDCH is from 17th February - 9th March 2025 for the concerned academic year. Degree wise Admission Process
BDS: The Bachelor of Dental Surgery program at GDCH has an approved strength intake of 63 seats. BDS admission is done through merit in NEET-UG, and Students should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
MDS Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry: This branch of postgraduate program intake is 3 seats. The admission is done through the NEET MDS examination. Candidate should have completed their BDS degree and fulfilled all eligibility criteria set by the Dental Council of India.
MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology: Like the previous specialized MDS program, the intake for this specialized MDS program is also 3 seats, and admission is taken through the NEET MDS exam.
Diploma in Dental Hygienist: The College runs the Diploma in Dental Hygienist course for those interested in training in dental health care. Admission to this course is done by examination conducted by a board of three examiners as approved by the Dental Council of India.
