Government Engineering College, Barmer (GEC Barmer) is the latest educational citizen in the family of institutions under the BARC Scheme. It is meant to cater to the demand for quality technical education in the state of Rajasthan. The merit-based admission process for this college includes admission into a variety of engineering programs. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recognized GEC Barmer and offers seven B.Tech programs through regular mode.
The admission process to GEC Barmer is two-fold: by merit in the JEE Main or by merit in the 12th standard. For B.Tech programs, GEC Barmer uses the Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP) for admissions along with other participating institutions in the state.
Though based on the results of JEE Main conducts at a national level through the National Testing Agency (NTA), candidates should sit the JEE Main exam, which is usually held simultaneously in January and April each year. They are expected to register for the exam through the official JEE Main website and to adhere to the application process as per the NTA guidelines.
Eligibility criteria for vacancy in B. Tech programs at GEC Barmer:
1. 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or Technical Vocational subject.
2. An applicant must obtain 45% marks (40% for those belonging to categories SC/ST/OBC-NCL/MBC-NCL) in all these subjects combined.

B.Tech: As part of the various B.Tech programs at GEC Barmer, seven programs are offered for a cumulative intake of 300 seats. All B.Tech programs follow the same admission procedure and are granted based on JEE Main scores or that of the 12th class.

Candidates seeking admission to any of these programs are supposed to apply online for REAP admissions. The eligibility criteria for these programs are similar to those mentioned above in the general admission process.
