Government Engineering College, West Champaran Admission Process

Government Engineering College, West Champaran is a popular institute of higher learning for good quality technical education for various engineering disciplines. The college adopts a transparent, merit-based admission process into its B.Tech programs. All India Council for Technical Education recognizes this institute under the name GEC West Champaran and is poised to bring a new perspective in engineering definition for the region.

The admission procedure at GEC West Champaran is largely based on the entrancing examination termed Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE), carried out by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. This examination is an entry point for all prospective engineers who are willing to pursue their engineering dreams from this prestigious institution. The BCECE has two stages Screening Examination and a Main Examination.

For admission into a four-year B.Tech course offered by GEC, candidates must appear for both Screening and Main Examinations of BCECE. Admissions to various engineering disciplines are offered based on the merit list prepared according to the BCECE results. Eligibility criteria for B.Tech programs at GEC West Champaran usually include successful completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

1. BCECE Registration: The candidates must register with the BCECE by completing an online application form on the official website of BCECE.

2. Entrance Examination: The candidate must take the BCECE, which consists of two levels:

a) Screening Examination
b) Main Examination

3. Announcement of Results: The candidates are to wait for results to be declared by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board upon completion of tests.

4. Attending the Counselling Process: If qualified, the candidate will participate in the BCECE counseling process where he/she shall choose GEC West Champaran and their preferred engineering discipline as per their ranking and seat availability.

5. Document Verification: If a student has been allotted a seat in GEC West Champaran, he should report to the college for verification of documents. Generally required documents include:

  • BCECE rank card
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Character certificate
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Category certificate (for reserved categories)
  • Domicile certificate (if required)

6. Payment of Fees: After submission of documents, proceed to pay the admission fees.

7. Admission Confirmation: Complete any other formalities set by the college to end the admission process or formalize the confirmation of admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Tech: GEC West Champaran under the SEVEN B.Tech courses offers a four-year duration for each and every B.Tech program. The admission process for all these seven B.Tech courses is through BCECE. The total number of seats under the B. Tech program at this college is 360. The seat distribution for the courses is as follows:

1. B.Tech in Cyber Security (60 seats)
2. B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (60 seats)
3. B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (60 seats)
4. B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (60 seats)
5. B.Tech in Civil Engineering (60 seats)
6. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (30 seats)
7. B.Tech in VLSI Design and Technology (30 seats)

Thus, candidates must fulfill the criteria laid down by the college and qualify in the BCECE to pursue any of the above courses.
