Gurudeva Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), located in Payyappady, Puthuppally, Kottayam, in the state of Kerala, is offering several engineering programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. GIST has a simple admission procedure which adheres to the regular admission procedures followed by the engineering colleges in Kerala.
In the state-level entrance test for admission into various B.Tech programs, the admission is granted on merit ranking. Hence, the admission process guarantees the entry of the best among the candidates to the available seats.
The procedure for the admission in M.Tech programs at GIST is based on the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) scores. GATE is important for admission into national-level postgraduate engineering programs. There are two M. Tech courses offered at GIST focusing on the following areas: Communication Engineering and Cyber Security, both having 12 seats each. The academic year in GIST normally starts in August-September, and months prior to that, admissions are opened.
Application Process
The application process at Gurudeva Institute of Science and Technology varies from course to course.
For B.Tech programs:
1. Appear for the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.
2. Qualify in the entrance examination with a rank that meets the cut-off for GIST.
3. Participate in the centralized allotment process (CAP) conducted by the CEE.
4. If allotted a seat at GIST, report to the institute for document verification and admission formalities.
5. Pay the required fees and complete the admission process.
For M.Tech programs:
1. Appear for GATE in the relevant discipline.
2. Apply to GIST through the application process specified by the institute or the affiliating university.
3. Submit all necessary documents including the GATE score card, degree certificates, and other relevant certificates.
4. Attend counseling or interview rounds if conducted by the institute.
5. If selected, complete the admission formalities and pay the required fees.
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Tech: the institute offers five B.Tech courses: Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Admission is done based upon the performance of a candidate in the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination (KEAM). The number of available seats is distributed as follows: Computer Sci. and Engineering (60), Civil Engineering (30), Mechanical Engineering (30), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (15), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (15).
M.Tech: The institute has two M.Tech programs: Communication Engineering and Cyber Security, both of which have 12 seats available. The admission to these programs is primarily based on GATE scores; however, candidates with valid GATE scores in the related engineering disciplines can apply. Final selection could be based on any additional criteria defined by the concerned institute or the affiliating university.
