Hindustan College of Engineering, Kollam Admission Process

Hindustan College of Engineering, Kollam (HCE) is a well-known institution, providing quality education in all branches of engineering. The admission process of the college is mainly dependent on the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Examination (KEAM), which is a state-level entrance examination for engineering students in Kerala.

HCE offers four regular B.Tech programs, each of which lasts for four years. The time of admission usually coincides with the time of the KEAM examination, which is conducted every year in April. For B.Tech courses in HCE, candidates must have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics as mandatory subjects, but candidates must perform well in the KEAM examination to secure an admission.

The pattern for KEAM exam is divided into two papers: Paper I (Physics & Chemistry) and Paper II (Mathematics). Both papers are of 2.5 hours duration and each has 120 multiple-choice questions. Candidates should prepare well on these subjects in order to get a reasonable chance for admission in HCE.

Application Process

The application procedure for Hindustan College of Engineering, Kollam is as below:

1. Get registered and attend the KEAM examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.

2. Upon the declaration of results for KEAM, selected applicants may submit their application to seek admission into HCE based on the centralized allotment conducted by the CEE.

3. Go to the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala, website and submit the online application for admission to engineering.

4. Pay the application fee as per the CEE.

5. Upload the provided documents:

  • KEAM score card
  • Class 10 and 12 mark sheets
  • Domicile certificate (if so demanded)
  • Category certificate (if so demanded)
  • Any other documents as stated in the admission notification

6. Online submission of completed application form.

7. Wait for allotment results. If allotted to HCE, report to the college for document verification and admission confirmation within the time frame.

8. Payment of admission fees and completion of enrollment formalities at Hindustan College of Engineering, Kollam.

B.Tech: Four courses of B.Tech are run by Hindustan College of Engineering, Kollam in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, and Computer Science & Engineering. Comparison between Kongu Engineering College, Erode and Hindustan College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore for MBA are:

  1. Both the colleges are affiliated to Anna University but the ranking of KEC is 95 and that of HCET is 110 .
  2. Duration for MBA in both the colleges is 2 years (Full time) and total fees of KEC is INR 1,00,000 and that of HCET is INR 72,000 .
  3. Admission in both the colleges is done through TANCA counselling based on rank/score obtained in TANCET MBA .
  4. Total number of seats in KEC is 120 whereas in HEC is 60 .
