Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology, Muvattupuzha Admission Process

Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology (ICET), Muvattupuzha, and it is one of the most reputed engineering colleges in Kerala. The college offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, technology, and management. The admission mechanism of ICET takes into account many national and state-level entrance examinations to find out the truly gifted and deserving candidates. Typically, the admission process begins during April-May for an academic year commencing from August-September. Admission to the undergraduate engineering programs are based on the merit list prepared on the basis of the score obtained in the Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM), conducted by the Government of Kerala for the meritorious candidates.

For B.Tech programs, generally, the basic eligibility requirement is the successful completion of Plus Two or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. For postgraduate programs, a candidate needs to have a graduation degree in the relevant discipline valid from a recognized university.

The important dates in the B.Tech admission process that are essential concerning the KEAM examination are being given below:

  • Exam Date: April 24-28, 2025
  • Application Process: Usually starts during January-February
  • Admit Card Release: About 10-15 days prior to the examination
  • Result Announcement: Usually in June-July

Application Process

The application process for various programs in Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology varies:

For B.Tech programs:

  1. Qualify for the KEAM examination.
  2. Register for the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala.
  3. Choose ICET and preferred courses during the allotment process.
  4. If allotted a seat, report at ICET for verification of documents and fee payment.

For M.Tech programs:

  1. Successful candidates are required to hold a valid GATE score.
  2. Candidates may apply directly to ICET or via the Centralized Admission Process of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
  3. Interview may be granted to shortlisted candidates.
  4. Majorly the selection procedure is based on the GATE score and interview performance.

For the MBA program:

  1. The candidate shall appear for either the CAT/CMAT/KMAT Kerala examinations.
  2. The candidate shall apply to ICET, providing an applicable score from one of the respective examinations.
  3. The candidates will be invited to partake in Group Discussion and Personal Interview sessions.
  4. Overall selection shall be done based on the scores from entrance examination, GD, and PI.

MCA Program:

  1. The candidate needs to have qualified the MCA Entrance Examination organized by CEE Kerala.
  2. The candidate needs to apply through the Centralized Allotment Process.
  3. The candidate shall complete all admission procedures at ICET after allotment of a seat.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B. Tech: ICET runs 11 B. Tech programs with a total intake of 660 seats for admission based on KEAM scores and those provisions laid by the Institutes of self-financing status. Under this dispensation, candidates are offered majors in the following fields: Computer Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Cyber Security, Agriculture Engineering, Food Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Robotics and Automation.

M.Tech: The college runs M.Tech programs such as Computer Aided and Structural Engineering (18 seats) and Computer Science and Engineering (9 seats). Admissions are based on GATE scores. Candidates with an AMIE/AMIETE are also eligible under specific conditions along with a minimum of 55% marks in Section B and three years of professional experience.

MBA: For MBA programs, the strength at ICET is 60. The admission is based on the exams of CAT, CMAT, and KMAT Kerala followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

MCA: Admission to MCA is based on the MCA Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala, with a sanctioned intake of 60 seats.

The following documents are generally required for admission:

  1. 10th & 12th Mark lists and certificates
  2. Degree certificates & Mark lists (for PG courses)
  3. Score Card of Entrance exam
  4. Community/Category Certificate (if applicable)
  5. Transfer Certificate
  6. Migration Certificate, if applicable
  7. Passport-size photographs
  8. Aadhar Card.

Semester exams are difficult, and due to this, many students are having backlogs.But only in the final semester, i.e., the eighth semester, are internships provided.Some of the faculty will just work for their salary and have no interest in teaching, which is not good.
