Laxman Devram Sonawane College, Kalyan. Admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses are done in a structured manner in the college. The college follows the statutes and ordinances issued by the University of Mumbai and the Government of Maharashtra for the admissions. 

The admission cycle usually follows the academic calendar of the University of Mumbai, and applications usually open in the months following the declaration of 12th standard results. For undergraduate programs, admissions are primarily based on the merit of the candidate's performance in their qualifying examination, which is 12th standard. Eligibility criteria vary depending on the program. For most undergraduate courses, students must have successfully completed their 12th standard from a recognized board. Specific subject combinations may be required for certain programs, such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for B.Sc. courses. Postgraduate applicants generally need to have completed a relevant bachelor's degree.

Application Process

1. Admission Notification: The college issues its admission notification in the official website and also in the local newspapers.

2. Application Form: The application forms are available in the college office and also downloadable from the official website.

3. Form Filling: The applicant has to submit his form fully with all his personal and academic background details.

4. Submissions of Documents: In addition to the appropriately filled application form, the candidate will have to provide the following documents:

• Original and Photocopy of 10th and 12th class mark sheets
• School / College Leaving Certificate
• Caste Certificate If Applicable)
• Recent Passport size photographs.

5. Admission Test (applicable for selective courses): Course like BMS demands an Entrance Exam, wherein the candidate(s) have to appear on the date assigned for the test.

6. Merit List: The college puts merit lists related to each program on the board and website as well.

7. Counseling and Seat Allotment: The shortlisted candidates are called for counseling wherein seats are allocated according to the merit and the choice of candidates.

8. Payment of Fees: The candidate who is shortlisted has to pay the fee in a specific amount within the time frame given.

9. Document Verification : All the offered admission documents produced are verified by college.

10. Orientation : Orientation program is run for the notified students in relation to the regulation, facilities as well as academical norms of the College.

 Degree wise Admission Process

B.Com: Admission to the B.Com program is strictly merit-based. The college has 600 seats for this program. Candidates are selected based on their performance in the 12th standard examination.

B.Sc: Admissions to B.Sc are made based on the merit list of students. 120 seats are available for a regular B.Sc program. In BA, admissions take place based on marks scored at 12th standard with stress on science stream.

BA: Admissions for BA also purely depend on the merit list. In the college, 240 BA seats are there. Admission in BA is on the basis of 12th standard examination marks scored by the candidates.

BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies): This self-financed course has 120 seats. This undergraduate course has a different entry process than any other undergraduate courses, as there is an entrance exam for BMS admission. The entrance examination is prepared, and merit list is published based on that performance. 

B.Sc Information Technology: It is a self-financed program with 120 seats. The admission process is merit-based and based on marks secured in the 12th standard, focusing on relevant subjects. The total fee for this course is Rs 71,282.

B.Com Accounting and Finance: This is a self-financed program with 120 seats. The admission process is also merit-based, like the regular B.Com program.

M.Com Advanced Accountancy: The postgraduate program has 120 seats. Admission is strictly on the basis of merit, considering the marks obtained in the qualifying bachelor's degree.

MA Economics and MA History: Both these self-financed postgraduate programs have 60 seats each. Admission is through a written test with two papers in the respective subjects.
