NEF College of Pharmacy, Guwahati Admission Process

NEF College of Pharmacy, Guwahati. The college is known for its quality pharmaceutical education in Assam. The college offers admission strictly on merit, thus providing the opportunity to all deserving candidates to pursue their pharmaceutical education. The college is affiliated with the concerned university and is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), which ensures that quality education in the field of pharmacy is provided. The intake for NEF College of Pharmacy generally occurs in July or August coinciding with the academic year. Though dates differ from year to year, it is generally recommended that interested students start working on their applications as early as the beginning of spring. There are two types of courses the college provides: B.Pharma and D.Pharma.

For the B.Pharma program, the basic eligibility criterion is that the candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The aggregate marks of 50% marks (45% for reserved categories) in these subjects are required to be obtained. For the D.Pharma program, candidates are required to pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.

Application Process

The admission process of NEF College of Pharmacy, Guwahati is very simple and merit-based. Here is the complete procedure for applying at the institute:

1. Notification: Look out for the official notification released by the college on its website regarding admissions that usually takes place a few months before the beginning of the academic year.

2. Application form: Get and fill up the application form. It is available in the website of the college or in the college's admission office.

3. Submission of documents: As a part of submission of the duly filled application form, one has to submit some documents as well:

  • Mark sheets and certificates of 10th and 12th standard
  • Transfer Certificate from the last attended institution
  • Character Certificate
  • Recent passport-size photographs
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other documents that are required at the time of seeking admission in the college

4. Application Fee: Pay the application fee demanded by the college. The amount and mode of payment will be mentioned in the admission notification.

5. Merit List: The college will prepare a merit list based on marks/grades secured by the candidates in the qualifying examination or based on performance in entrance tests, as required.

6. Counselling: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a counselling session where they can choose their preferred course (B.Pharma or D.Pharma) based on their merit rank and seat availability.

7. Fee Payment: Upon selection, candidates need to pay the required fees to secure their admission.

8. Document Verification: Original documents will be verified during the admission process.

Admission is strictly competitive due to the few seats available for each, just 100 for B.Pharma and 60 for D.Pharma. Candidates must prepare their documents well in advance and file applications early to avoid any hassles at the last hour.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma is a four-year undergraduate course and has an intake of 100 seats at NEF College of Pharmacy. For the admission into the B.Pharma course, the admission depends on merit which considers the marks scored in 10+2 examinations or any other entrance exams held by different institutes. The whole duration fees of B.Pharma course will amount to Rs. 545,000.

D.Pharma: The Diploma in Pharmacy is a two-year course offered by NEF College of Pharmacy with 60 seats. Admission to D.Pharma is also based on merit. The candidate's performance in the qualifying examination is considered for admission. The total fee for the D.Pharma course is Rs. 285,000 for the entire duration.
