Newton's Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Guntur, is one of the top institutes of engineering. The institute provides pristine education by offering various engineering disciplines, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs. Despite being one of the best, NIST is known for its transparent admission process, which is guided mostly by entrance examinations at the state level.
NIST accepts admission to B.Tech courses based on AP EAMCET-affiliated ranks. The AP EAMCET, being a state-level entrance test, serves the purpose of an entry gateway for all aspiring engineers in Andhra Pradesh. The AP EAMCET primarily tests candidates for their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics so as to ascertain a decent foundation for pursuing engineering studies.
Postgraduate M.Tech admissions for NIST are based on GATE and AP PGECET ranks. From these examinations, the institute can admit students whose knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering, as well as their aptitude for advanced study, are assured. The entire admission cycle begins with the notifications of these entrance examinations, followed by the application, counseling, and seat allotment.
Application Process
The application procedure for Newton's Institute of Science and Technology varies for each program:
For B.Tech Program:
1. Must qualify for the AP EAMCET examination.
2. Register for the AP EAMCET counseling process.
3. Choose NIST and preferred B.Tech courses during counseling.
4. If allotted a seat, report to NIST for document verification and admission formalities.
M.Tech Programs:
1. GATE/AP PGECET examination to be appeared.
2. Apply through the AP PGECET counseling.
3. Select NIST and desired M.Tech specialization during counseling.
4. If selected, admission process.
For Diploma Programs:
1. Must qualify for the AP POLYCET examination.
2. Enter into the AP POLYCET counseling process.
3. Choose NIST and preferred diploma course through seat allotment.
4. Report to NIST for document verification and admission if allotted seats.
Degree Wise Admissions Procedure
B.Tech Programs: NIST offers B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to the above programs is on the basis of AP EAMCET scores. The total intake for B.Tech courses is 480; the highest intake is Computer Science and Engineering, with 180 seats.
M.Tech Programs: NIST offers M.Tech programs in CAD CAM, Structural Engineering, and Thermal Engineering. The main score for admission is given to the GATE/AP PGECET combination. Each M.Tech program has an intake of 18 seats. A candidate must have a relevant B.Tech or equivalent degree to apply.
Diploma Programs: The institute undertakes diploma courses in Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The admissions are made through AP POLYCET. Among all, Computer Engineering has the maximum intake of 180 seats, whereas the diplomas for Civil and Mechanical Engineering have 60 seats each.
