Pramathesh Barua College, Dhubri, is a well-reputed co-educational institute in Assam providing undergraduate degrees in various fields. The NAAC-accredited college has a merit-based system of admission to all its programs.

The admission process at Pramathesh Barua College follows the general calendar of Assam universities, and applications normally come out during summer for the upcoming academic year, which commences in August-September. The college creates a common merit list for every course, and admissions are made solely on the basis of this list. It must be noted that the college also follows the reservation policy of the government during admission, so equal opportunities are available to all types of students.

Eligibility for admission differs with the selected course. In general, for undergraduate programs, applicants should have completed their 10+2 education from a recognized institution. Requirements of certain subjects for certain courses may also be necessary. For example, applicants for B.Com courses should have Commerce or allied subject background during higher secondary study.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA (Bachelor of Arts): The college has BA programs with different major options such as English, Political Science, Assamese, Economics, History, Education, Philosophy, Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Mathematics. 

The general intake for the general BA program is 350 seats. For major courses, intake is different:

  • BA English Major and BA Political Science Major: 50 seats each
  • BA Assamese Major, BA Economics Major, and BA History Major: 40 seats each
  • BA Education Major and BA Philosophy Major: 30 seats each
  • BA Bengali Major: 20 seats

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): The B.Com course has an overall intake of 180 seats. Specializations provided are:

  • B.Com Accountancy Major: 30 seats
  • B.Com Finance Hons: 30 seats
  • B.Com Management Hons: 30 seats

BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration): The college provides a BBA course, although specific intake information is not given.

BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications): A BCA course is offered, aiming at those who are interested in computer applications and science.

PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications): The college offers a self-financed PGDCA course, which imparts higher computer education.
