About Raja Balwant Singh Polytechnic, Agra, established in 1885 is a grand old institution with a history of over a century. The polytechnic is affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education and is situated in Bichpuri, Agra. It has an 8-acre big campus to support the space requirements of literacy and co-curricular activities. The total student intake is 1,148, and the faculty strength is 6 members in all disciplines. The institute is offering 10 diversified diploma programmes under various branches of engineering that it provides. The polytechnic is dedicated to imbibing technical learning with specialised programmes necessary for the rapidly changing industrial environment.

Raja Balwant Singh Polytechnic is adequately provided with a good range of facilities required for students to optimise their learning. It has a well-stocked library that serves as an information centre and provides any possible resource for pursuing one's interests. The college believes that outdoor recreation forms part of the student's overall development; hence it has sports facilities that ensure students cultivate a balanced character where studies go hand in hand with sports.

The IT infrastructure of the institute is designed to keep pace with the changing times and also make the students efficient in the latest tools and technologies. Department-based laboratories will give practical experience to the student, and that is very important for skill development. Hostel accommodations are for both male and female students in an effort to encourage effective and focused study. The college has a well-furnished auditorium to host all outdoor activities and seminars, but it also hosts a cafeteria for refreshments, health centre with first aid, and a guest house for visiting faculty and students' family members.

There are 10 diploma courses in all at Raja Balwant Singh Polytechnic, all of which are full-time courses. It offers branches ranging from Diploma in Civil Engineering Environmental and Pollution Control, Diploma in Electrical Engineering Industrial Control Lateral Entry, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Refrigeration and Air Condition Lateral Entry, and Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering Lateral Entry. etc. These programmes include provisions for lateral entry in many of the courses, whereby students who are already qualified pass directly into the second year of study. The total intake approved across all courses is 411 seats, which represents how many young aspirants to the field the institute is capable of nurturing.

Raja Balwant Singh Polytechnic mainly admits students through the merit Lists of the Uttar Pradesh Joint Entrance Examination Polytechnic, better known as JEECUP. This is a common entrance test to allow fitness of aspiring students who seek admission to various diploma programmes offered by the institute. All matters related to the admission process are looked after by the Joint Entrance Examination Council, Lucknow, so that equality and transparency guide the selection of students.
