Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Steel Technology, Bellary offers two regular programs running under RGIST- Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering and Post Diploma in Industrial Safety.
The admission process of RGIST is selecting gifted candidates in metallurgical engineering and industrial safety. Institute follows a merit-selection process considering the academic background of applicants in relevant subjects. Admissions generally follow the academic calendar which normally starts a few months prior to the beginning of the academic year.
To enroll for a diploma in Metallurgical Engineering, students have to clear the 10th standard with more emphasis on science subjects. Candidates who already possess a post diploma in a field of relevant engineering are allowed into the program Post Diploma in Industrial Safety.
Application Process
The application procedure to Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Steel Technology, Bellary is generally as follows:

Diploma wise Admission Procedure
Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering: This is a three-year full-time course of RGIST. The admission to this course shall be based upon the academic performance of the candidate up to the 10th standard, that is, special emphasis on the science and mathematics subjects. It will be an integrated course comprising all the aspects of metallurgical processes-theoretical as well as practical.
Post Diploma in Industrial Safety: It is a one-year full-time program that is provided to the students who have completed a diploma in engineering. The admission may probably consider the performance of the candidate in the previous diploma program, especially in understanding the principles of engineering and the potential for specialization in industrial safety.
