Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law in Meerut is one of the finest and renowned constituent colleges of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University which has a very wide range of law programs. The Bar Council of India (BCI) recognizes this institute and it holds an elaborate admission procedure to pick out the most deserving candidates for its various law programs.

The admission procedure at Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law rests entirely upon the University Common Entrance Examination, better known as SNET (Subharti National Entrance Test). This examination is carried out for admission into both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. SNET is generally held once a year with the application notification released well in advance by the university.

For undergraduate programs like BA LLB, the eligible candidate has to appear for SNET examination. The examination tests candidates' aptitude for legal studies, general knowledge, and analytical skills. Admission is competitive, out of which BA LLB admits a total of 120 seats. Doctoral studies (Ph.D. in Law) will be either by the University Common Entrance Examination or by direct interview, depending on the qualifications of the candidate concerned and those of the proposed program.

Application Process

The Application Process followed at Sardar Patel Subharti Institute of Law, Meerut, involves the following steps:

1. Candidates must first register for the Subharti National Entrance Test (SNET) on the official university website.

2. Candidates have to appear for the SNET examination on the scheduled date. Usually, the examination pattern and syllabus will be available on the university website.

3. Result declaration: The university normally announces the SNET results within a few weeks of the examination.

4. Shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling based on SNET scores and on the availability of seats.

5. Document verification: Candidates must present their original documents for verification during counseling. Usually, the documents required include:

  • 10th and 12th Mark sheets and Certificates
  • Graduation Mark sheets and Degree Certificate (for Postgraduate programs)
  • SNET Scorecard
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate
  • Migration Certificate

6. Fee Payment: After verification of the required documents and allotment of a seat to the candidate, the candidate is required to pay the admission fee to complete his/her admission.

7. Orientation: An orientation program is usually held for the settled students before the classes begin.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA LLB: This is a 5-year integrated program and has an intake of 120 seats. The ranking for selection would consider the performance of candidates in the SNET examination. Candidates must have successfully completed 10 + 2 or equivalent from a recognized board.

LLM: Admission to the Master of Laws program is based on the SNET examination. Candidates must have a Bachelor degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university for eligibility.

LLM Evening: Designed for working professionals, the program follows the same admission procedure as that for the LLM in the first shift, the chief selection criterion being the SNET examination.

Ph.D. Law: Candidates seeking admission to the Doctoral Program must either sit for the University Common Entrance Examination or face a direct interview. Candidates require a Master's degree in Law along with the cut-off percentage as per university norms.

PG Diploma Programs: The institute proposes a complete set of Postgraduate Diploma programs in specializations within the law area, i.e., Human Rights Law, Media Law, Intellectual Property Rights Law, Labour Law, and Patent Rights Law. Admission to such programs shall be based either on SNET scores or merit as decided by the institute.
