The college infrastructure was huge. Its classrooms were nice and innovative. Quality education was there. The labs and libraries were top-notch. The library was one of the best libraries in Mumbai for Architecture. All the facilities were well-maintained. The living spaces were clean and the food was good and hygienic.
The course I studied was B. Arch as I was always interested in Infrastructural designs and architecture. The quality of education was good there and I studied passionately there. The curriculum was updated and it made me job-ready and skilled.
The college placements were fine with an average of 4 lacs and a highest of 10 lacs for the students. The placement process was fine and the college was supportive. The students were talented and opportunities were also there for them.
It was the best value for money for me as my course fee was around 20 thousand for a year and in 5 lacs my whole course was completed. I received my money's worth as I developed architectural skills there and my designing improved.
The campus life was great as the environment of the college was student-driven with a lot of activities going on every week. The students and staff were supportive. The college was in a very good area so emergencies were handled safely.
I loved the library there.
Necessary Infrastructure is present though cleanliness and hygiene is a little below average. No facilities like Wifi and smart boards are provided but they aren't really required for better learning of Architecture. Air Conditioned Lecture halls and spacious studios are present. The Canteen is not great in terms of food quality and hygiene but the location of the college provides many alternatives for places to eat.
Sir JJ College of Architecture being one of the top 3 institutes for Architectural studies in india and the oldest Architecture college in Asia has great standards of learning and teaching. The curriculum is set by Mumbai University. The study makes you job ready and there's an entire semester for interning at Architecture firms too.
100% placement. Most architects are paid really well. Students usually get placed at decent architecture firms and eventually open their own firms. I do not know what the highest salary package offered is. The college only offers one course so it went to a Bachelors in Architecture student only. The college is supportive in terms of helping one find a job.
Fee varies from 6k to 20k depending on quota. One definitely gets their money's worth.
The campus is in the heart of Mumbai and well spaced in comparison to other Mumbai colleges. Best features being able to study in a world heritage building and learn from what we see from the architecture around us. The staff is mainly supportive but sometimes don't understand student emotions. The location is AMAZING. Campus is overall safe and there are multiple hospitals within walking radius
The campus is beautiful but usually unkempt. Although the studios and lecture halls are spacious and roomy allowing a lot of sunlight in. The Library is the best feature of the college and contains literally any Architecture book you can imagine. Food is not a 100% hygienic. There are no proper courts for sports, they are usually played once a year during fest on the common field that is shared by both the Arts and Architecture departments.
Curriculum and projects are intensive but engaging and overall learning experience along with teaching style and remarks are satisfactory. Of not recent, the curriculum involves all necessary developments of the field. The syllabus and some extra participation makes you job ready.
No in campus placements but there are several opportunities for many. Placements aren't guaranteed and you have to work you way to it but the college provides the necessary background for getting hired by companies.
Cost per year is reasonable since it is a government college. We sure get our money's worth and sometimes can extract more than that.
Campus is not too big and lacks good infrastructure. The college is at advantage because it's at a prime location (near CST). Teachers and support staff are friendly and helpful. There is a hospital right behind in case of emergencies. Canteens and stationery shops are also very close.
Experience at this college has been good overall. It has been a roller coaster ride academically, mostly being good. The college has a great legacy and name and asks for its students to live up to its standards which is only fair.
Dear Shraddha
Jee mains cutoff score to get into Sir JJ collage is about 120-15. Other than this you can use our jee mains collage predictor to get the best collage you deserve at your marks at very nominal fee w.r.t its work. Feel free to ask any quires you have.
Thanks
Hi there. In response to your query most of these colleges on their website do mention in section under modes of admission for undergraduate students the exact procedure for the same. For example, like VIT does hold its own examination VITEEE for which information is available on their website. Hence you would need to confirm the same for remainder of the institutes as well.
Hope this answer helps; best wishes
