Sri Narayani College and School of Nursing, Vellore Admission Process

Sri Narayani College and School of Nursing, Vellore, is a recognized school in India with a systematic admission procedure for nursing applicants. Approved by the Indian Nursing Council, a variety of nursing programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma levels are being offered by Sri Narayani College. The college sees its admission process as one through which capable and dedicated nursing students are identified and selected to undergo different nursing programmes.

The admission rounds for the college are held annually between August and September, whereas notifications regarding application procedures are usually a few months earlier before the school year begins.

The eligibility varies from program to program. For undergraduate courses, one would say, in B.Sc Nursing, students should complete their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Among the minimum presentative condition of any applicant for M.Sc Nursing postgraduate program is his/her bachelor's degree in nursing. Other eligibility requirements might apply for GNM diploma programs.

Application Process

Sri Narayani College and School of Nursing's admission procedure comprises the following steps:

1. The student must visit the college official website to fill in the application form for the desired program.

2. Fill this application form in full with all information regarding your personal and academic background.

3. The student must pay the application fee according to information given by the college.

4. Submit the duly filled application form alongside the following documents:

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Transfer Certificat
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport size photographs

5. These candidates will be required to submit B.Sc Nursing or GNM certificates, and registration with the State Nursing Council for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing courses.

6. Depending on the program and the number of applicants, shortlisted candidates may be required to take an entrance exam and/or appear for an interview.

7. The final selection will usually be based on the evaluation of academic performance, entrance exam scores (if applicable) and interview.

8. The selected candidates will then be informed about the admission procedure and are required to pay the prescribed fees along with submission of original documents for verification.

Degree-wise Admission Process.

B.Sc Nursing is for 4 years of undergraduate study with a total seat intake of 100. Admission to this program will purely depend on the candidate's performance at 10+2 level examinations in science. An entrance test conducted by the college or the scores from state-level nursing entrance examinations may be considered.

GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): This program is for a diploma with an intake of 40. Candidates who have studied science subjects at 10 + 2 level can apply. Admission may be done based on an entrance test and/or merit selection.

Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: This 2-year course with 20 seats is exclusively for registered nurses. Applicants must have a diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and be registered with the State Nursing Council.

M.Sc Nursing: The specialized M.Sc Nursing programs of Sri Narayani College are organized in the following fields: Medical and Surgical Nursing; Child Health Nursing; Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing; Community Health Nursing; and Mental Health Nursing. Each specialization offers four seats. Generally admission is offered based on BSc Nursing degree performance, an entrance exam and an interview.

Hello Aspirant,

To get admission in this college you must have cleared your 10+2 in science stream with minimum aggregate of 45% marks from any recognised board. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or would complete the said age on before 31 December of the year of admission.

Applicants are selected on the basis of merit in intermediate exam. 65% seats are filled through government and 35% seats are filled through management quota.
