Sri Vasavi College of Education was started in the year 2008 and is a leading teacher training college situated at Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. This Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University affiliated co-educational institute is exclusively for those eager to become teachers. Located in a small area of 0.61776 acres, the college has been broadly recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education NCTE. The Students enrolment has been 84 while the Faculty members are 13 in number therefore achieving good student- Faculty ratio for easy control and training.

Sri Vasavi College of Education also provides number of amenities that help students to improve the learning process. The library which is one of the vital sources of fostering academic resourcefulness has rich bibliographic base with audio-visual and textual holdings of 5437 books including 269 reference books and 4150 titles along with 4 magazines and 15 journals. Practical facilities are offered through convenient laboratories; computer and internet facilities are also available with the institute. Required with an air-conditioner, 6 computers and allied supporting systems the computer centre located in the college imparts necessary computing skills to the students aspiring to be teachers, scholars. Other facilities include an auditorium that is used for occasions such as seminars, facilities for physical and sports activities for the student, a canteen, compound for parking of cars the college and first aid facilities in the college’s health centre.

Sri Vasavi College of Education provides course specialisation in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme. This course is comprehensive and takes for two years full-time and has the main purpose of preparing a student for a teaching profession. The college has been permitted to admit hundred students for the B.Ed programme, which indicates the head capacity to train a large number of students for teaching each year. Teaching experiences are integrated together with theoretical knowledge into the curriculum for a broad knowledge and to prepare graduates for the complex teaching environment of the modern classroom.

The admission held at Sri Vasavi College of Education is based on merit list which follow state government, union territory, university regulations. Where the college grants admission on merit, it is based on the percentage scored in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The college also takes into consideration, any other mode of selection as per the current polices. Students who complete their TAI in this cell attend placement interviews at schools both within and around Erode to get placements to teach after the completion of their course.
