St Aloysius College, Thrissur Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College Library started to function in a new multi-facility Library Complex in January 2013. The Library has been updated with 34637 Books. The Library is fully computerized and data is transferred to KOHA Integrated Library Management Software. Further, an Online Catalogue Searching Facility is provided. The New Arrival Section helps the academic community to be updated concerning the newly arrived documents in the library. There is an E-Gate Register at the entrance of the library which records user statistics, and, the E-Notice Board before the Library provides a current awareness service. The Library subscribes to more than 90 print Journals and Magazines. The Library also subscribes N-LIST e-resources package which provides 97000 e-books and 6000 e-journals which help the academic community to search the e-resources from anywhere with the user name and password provided by the INFLIBNET center. All staff and students of St. Aloysius College are members of the College Library. The library also welcomes outside users, students, and research scholars of other institutions to use library resources with the prior permission of the Principal E-Resource Center - Library provides a wi-fi internet facility, and e-resources are provided through an e-resource center in the Library. It is to credit that St. Aloysius College is being frequently listed among the top ten users of N-List in India. Library provides 6 terminals for catalog search and 30 computer terminals for browsing e-resources. Library provides access to the N-LIST Package of online e-resources (51000 E-Books and 2100 E-Journals). The library has a collection of 213 CDs/DVDs in the E-resource center.

The PG Department of English has a language lab meant for the students. It has been equipped with computers with X-Class software for the training. They have internet access in the same lab.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

Apart from that, have a well-furnished Computer Center. Departments conduct short-term courses for the students to develop basic computer skills. All these facilities are open to students once they register their names in the college.

The College has canteen is not just the place where you go to eat. Canteen can be otherwise referred to be a cafeteria. Rush to it after the class and it’s not like taking a diet conscious meal. Rather you would love to take the bite of some yummy snacks accompanied by the warmth of yourfriends Tits and bits and something that you really love to have in the canteens. Chips and softdrinks, tea and coffee and countless other snacks which fill your stomach and mind after the classroom schedule. Countless cups of tea and coffee and a heartful chat with friends.

The College Auditorium provides a venue for a gathering of the students for music performances, lectures, and common programs. The auditorium is designed for multi-purpose use. It can accommodate up to 800 people. The stage offers space for performances, presentations, or a floor for festive activities. The auditorium features full sound and light systems. The adjoining balcony serves as the added area for the auditorium and can be used separately or in conjunction with the rental of the auditorium for receptions or other small functions. Being in the middle of the campus it can make an excellent venue for receptions and dinners It is a modern and flexible facility that accommodates up to 150 guests in comfortable seating in an air-conditioned hall. Features include A registration area, Ample space for multiple setups, 10 x 4 ft. projection screen with Smart Board, ADA-compatible podium, Video-computer projection unit, and handheld and lapel microphones.

The College has  is a registered forum for teachers, including retired teachers, and formerstudents of this College constituted with the intention of sustaining good relationship between them. It also aims at overall development of its members and the College. The Association aims at establishing and maintaining close contact and friendship with all those who leave this college after their studies. Former students are enrolled as members and they are informed of the various activities, progress and achievements of the College. St. Aloysius Annual Alumni Meet will be held at 2 pm on the first Sunday of December every year in the College Auditorium.

The college has a fitness center under the Physical Education Department. The students can make maximum use of it as a part of their training and development of a healthy lifestyle.

The College has as a part of the CMI Education Mission, St. Aloysius College started a Women’s Hostel in the College premises in the year 2013. It offers facilities to female students admitted to various courses in the College. The ladies hostel with an area of 743.2 sq. meter stands a kilometre away from the main campus. It has adequate facilities and can accommodate about 80 students. The Hostel is run by the nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha.

The College has Nature Club tries to impart a vital awareness and the knowledge of conservation. Regular activities : a. electing student co-ordinators and executive members b. discussion, debates, photo exhibition etc. on issues concerning nature c. planning for the yearly programmes.

The College has Placement Cell of the college functions under the guidance of a staff co-ordinator and it endeavours to impart training to students in choosing an appropriate career in future. The cell co-ordinates the various career guidance programmes conducted by the departments. The cell also organises career guidance, seminars and personality development programmes for the graduate students. The final year students are trained to face both personal and general interviews. The cell subscribes to various career magazines and display on notice board news regarding important career opportunities.
