Surya College of Technical Studies located in the city of Lucknow was established in 2018, making it a fairly young college, in terms of technical education. This college is situated in Lucknow capital of the state Uttar Pradesh in India and in very short span of time has emerged as one of the most preferred choices among students who are in pursuit of diploma courses. The Government approved All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body responsible for the technical education standard in India for approval for the institute. Surya College has structured the student intake with a total of 71 students and faculty strength of 22 members which mainly decreases the student teacher ratio.

A number of features are provided for in the college in a bid to complement the learning abilities of the students. The campus also has separate hostels for boys and girls who travel from other areas to study in this institute get to live comfortably in. A library with an adequate stock is useful in the sense that the student is able to access many different sources so that they are able to do their work. This college is a modern college of higher learning as it has a great feature of being well endowed with attractive IT features that informs the students about modern education based on technological advancement. Further, the institution has provided general and departmental laboratories where the learners can practically apt knowledge and skills in their respective disciplines.

Surya College of Technical Studies has limited diploma programmes only and all these programmes are offered as full time programmes intended to take three years to complete. The institute currently provides four diploma courses: civil engineering, computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and Information technology engineering. Offering 180 seats across these programs, the college is versatile in offering engineering courses for students’ choice. Civil and Computer Engineering programs have 60 seats, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Information Technology Engineering program has 60 seat each. This distribution is consistent with the college’s focus areas as a primary engineering college and at the same time in line with the modern technological development.

Surya College of Technical Studies has simplified the admission process and any aspiring student can apply for admission. Unfortunately, there is no mentioning of admission procedure notations but it is currently normal that diploma programs accept students depending on their performance in specific qualifying examination or 10th standard marks. According to our research, prospective students should visit the college official website or even contact the admission office for a detailed up to date information concerning the admission procedures, deadlines and whether there is any entrance exam to be undertaken. The college’s focus to develop technical workforce is reflected both in the course, which are taught and the facilities offered to the students, therefore, ideal for students interested in engineering courses. Being a newly established institution, Surya College of Technical Studies is equipped with all requisite facilities and approvals like AICTE for the students who want to get good technical education in Lucknow and the college focuses only on technical education. The college is still striving to have a bigger growth so that it can create a pool of skilled technicians and engineers of the future generation to add onto the technological development of the region as well as the world in the coming future.
