The eligibility criteria for BE to get admission into UIET Chandigarh is that candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent with at least five subjects, including Hindi, English, Punjabi, Physics, and Mathematics. Some websites do suggest the minimum percentage however, that's not official, the recommended percentage however will be to get about 90% as a safe score to get admitted.

Hi Sarthak,

The University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) , Chandigarh, has a specific eligibility criterion for admission to its undergraduate courses, including B.Tech programs.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to UIET Chandigarh:

  1. Class 12 Marks:

    • As per the official UIET website, the basic requirement is to have passed Class 12 from a recognized board with the necessary subjects (usually Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for B.Tech).
    • The minimum percentage required may not always be explicitly stated as long as you have passed the board exam.
  2. JEE Main Score:

    • Admission to UIET is primarily based on JEE Main scores. You need to qualify for JEE Main and apply through the centralized counseling process.
    • JEE Main Cutoff: The cutoff for admission to various branches at UIET may vary depending on the number of applicants and the overall difficulty of the exam in a particular year.
  3. Additional Criteria for Some Courses (if any):

    • Some sources may mention a minimum of 60% in Class 12 as a threshold to be eligible for admission. This could refer to internal or specific course requirements that go beyond just "passing" Class 12.
    • The 60% figure may also apply to certain reserved categories, or to meet the eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Main, or it could be a general guideline for highly competitive courses.

Hello Lucky,

With a rank of 10 lakh in JEE Mains and 77% in your +2 exams, getting admission into the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), Punjab University, Chandigarh , especially for popular branches like Mechanical Engineering or Information Technology , may be challenging. Here are some factors to consider:

  1. JEE Main Rank : A rank of 10 lakh is generally considered high for competitive branches at reputed institutions like UIET. The closing ranks for these branches often fall significantly below this, typically around the 50,000 to 80,000 range for open categories.

  2. SC Category Reservation : As an SC category candidate, you may have a slightly better chance due to reservation benefits. However, the specific cutoff for SC candidates can still be competitive, and the last admitted ranks often vary each year based on the applicant pool.

  3. Alternative Options :

    • Consider Other Colleges : Look for other engineering colleges that accept higher ranks and offer Mechanical or IT courses.

    • Check Management Quota : Some colleges may have management quota seats, which can be an option if you're open to paying higher fees.

    • State-Level Entrance Exams : If you're open to other colleges in Punjab or nearby states, consider applying through state-level entrance exams, as they may have different cutoff criteria.

      Conclusion

While it may be tough to secure a seat in Mechanical Engineering or Information Technology at UIET with your current rank, exploring other colleges and options will broaden your chances of admission. Keep an eye on the counseling process and stay informed about the specific cutoffs for SC candidates to make an informed decision.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries then feel free to share your questions with us we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you and wishing you all the best for your bright future.

Hy,

With a CRL rank of 152,358 in the general category, it may be challenging to secure admission in competitive branches like IT, ECE, or EEE at UIET Chandigarh. Typically, these branches have higher cutoff ranks due to their popularity. It’s advisable to check the previous years’ cutoff trends for a more accurate assessment and consider other colleges or branches where you might have a better chance of admission.

Hy,

The cut-off marks for UIET (University Institute of Engineering and Technology) at Kurukshetra University can fluctuate from year to year based on various factors, including:

  1. Number of Applicants : An increase in the number of students applying for a particular course can lead to higher cut-off marks.

  2. Difficulty Level of the Entrance Exam : If the exam is perceived as easier or harder, it can affect the cut-off.

  3. Availability of Seats : The number of seats available in each program can influence cut-off trends. Fewer seats may result in higher cut-offs.

  4. Academic Performance Trends : Overall performance of applicants in the entrance exam or qualifying exams can impact cut-off trends.

Historical Trends

  • Increase : Typically, cut-off marks may increase if there is high demand and competition for the course. This is often seen in popular programs or in years with a large number of high-scoring applicants.

  • Decrease : Conversely, cut-offs may decrease if there is less competition, fewer applicants, or if the difficulty of the entrance exam was higher.

Hello Aspirant,

Yes, the college that you have chosen is good in terms of return on investment and considering you have chosen mechanical in this college. So one thing keep in mind that you should be preparing for non core domain like data analytics and data science because not all  will get placed in the core companies.

However in other colleges there are certain factors such as number of candidates appearing in the examination, previous year cutoffs and difficulty level of the paper which determines the cut offs.

Hello Deepak,

As you belong to the obc category and your JEE mains is above 2L let me tell you that you can go for the state government colleges where seperate counselling is held for the state colleges.

In the state colleges you have good chances to get into a decent college but through josaa it is tough to get NITs/IIITs/GFTIs . If you can wait till csab round then you can go for colleges like NIT Mizoram, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Srinagar, NIT Agartala, NIT Puducherry and in GFTIs like Gurughasidas Vishwavidyalaya, BIT Mesra.
