Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College, Thaikkattussery, stands to be one of the best institutes for Ayurvedic education in India. The college is situated in Thrissur, Kerala and offers programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Ayurvedic medicine. The admission procedure followed by the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College is wholly merit-based and abides by the general conventions as by the Government of Kerala and national-level entrance examinations. These are accepting NEET UG for admission to undergraduate programs. NEET UG is a prerequisite exam for all those who aspire to be BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) students. In general terms, the admission process starts with the declaration of the NEET results by the end of the June-July month, with an academic start date in August-September.

The admission for the MD Ayurveda Vachaspati and MD Kayachikitsa postgraduate courses is based on the AIAPGET exam. AIAPGET is conducted every year, the admission is processed after the result declaration. A candidate must qualify 10+2 with PCB to be eligible to pursue BAMS. In the case of postgraduate courses, candidates need to possess a BAMS degree, recognized by the Central Government. The admission cut-off of Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College will be determined by some specific cut-off scores and ranks in the respective entrance exams.

  4. Upload all requisite documents including AIAPGET score card, BAMS degree certificate, internship completion certificate and other relevant documents.
  5. Pay the application fee as specified by the admission authority.
  6. Attend counselling if shortlisted, based on the merit list.
  7. If selected, report to Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College for final admission procedures.

Degree wise Admission Process

BAMS: The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery degree of Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College has an annual intake of 75 seats. Admission is based on NEET UG examination scores followed by Common Entrance Examinations conducted by the Government of Kerala. A candidate should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects.

MD Ayurveda Vachaspati: This postgraduate degree has an intake capacity of 5 seats every year and is one of the specialties. AIAPGET is the qualifying examination while the final admission is determined from the Kerala Government-conducted Common Entrance Examination. The eligibility criteria include the completion of the BAMS degree program at a recognized institute.

MD Kayachikitsa: There are 5 seats available for this postgraduate degree. The admission is done on an AIAPGET basis. BAMS graduates can apply for this specialization practicing internal medicine in Ayurveda.

The documents required for the admission in general are as follows:

  • NEET UG/AIAPGET score card
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets
  • BAMS degree certificate (for PG courses)
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (if any)
  • Caste certificate (if any)
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Recent passport-size photographs.
