Vikas College of Engineering and Technology, Vijayawada Admission Process

Vikas College of Engineering and Technology (VCTN), Vijayawada, is now a prime private affiliated institute with an assortment of engineering and management programs. The admission process carried on by the college is well laid out according to the regulations provided by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, to which it is affiliated. The admission season for VCTN usually starts in May-June for the academic year associating with August-September. The college accepts applications through the various state-level entrance examinations, depending upon the program. For undergraduate engineering programs, admissions are usually given on the basis of the AP EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) scores. The basic eligibility requirement for B.Tech programs is that the student should have cleared 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as their main subjects. 

A minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in the qualifying examination is also imposed. For M.Tech programs, the candidates should be possessing a B.E/B. Tech degree in the relevant discipline, whereas, MBA aspirants should possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline. AP EAMCET is usually conducted in the month of May for the Engineering admissions and results declared in June. While AP PGECET for M.Tech admissions happens in June, MBA APICET is held right after it, in May. It is advised that the candidates check the official website of these examinations and VCTN which shall provide detailed and specific information regarding the dates and deadlines for that particular year.

Application Process

Application procedures for Vikas College of Engineering and Technology depend on the program in question:

For B.Tech programs:

  1. Take the AP EAMCET examination.
  2. Register for the state-level counseling process conducted by APSCHE.
  3. Complete an online application, providing personal and academic information.
  4. Upload relevant documents including mark sheets for 10+2, AP EAMCET rank card, and category certificate (if any).
  5. Pay the application fee online.
  6. Attend the counseling session on the allotted date and time.
  7. Report to the college for document verification and fee payment if offered a seat in VCTN.

For M.Tech programs:

  1. Take either GATE or AP PGECET.
  2. Apply directly to VCTN (if GATE/PGECET are criteria for admission) or go through the state-level counseling process.
  3. The online application can be accessed on the college website or the counseling portal.
  4. Required documents will include the B.Tech degree certificate, GATE/PGECET score card, and other pertinent certificates (to be uploaded).
  5. Application fee payment is due.
  6. Candidates called for counseling from the college or through interview rounds attend.

For MBA:

  1. APICET must be taken.
  2. Register for the state-level counseling process or, relying on management quota options, directly apply to VCTN.
  3. Fill out the online application form, providing personal and academic details.
  4. Upload required documents such as graduation certificate and APICET rank card.
  5. Pay the application fee.
  6. Attend rounds of counseling or interview as per the stipulated time.

For Diploma programs:

  1. Attempting AP POLYCET examination is a requisite.
  2. Registration for the state-level counseling process has to be undertaken.
  3. Submit duly filled application form online.
  4. Required documents include the 10th mark sheets and AP POLYCET rank card to be uploaded.
  5. Pay the application fee online.
  6. Participate in the counseling process, allotted therein.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech: There are 8 specializations offered for B.Tech in VCTN, which include Computer Science and Engineering; Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Electronics and Communication Engineering; and Agricultural Engineering; Admission is done based on the AP EAMCET rank with subsequent counseling process conducted by APSCHE. The total intake for all B.Tech programs is 630 seats.

Once again, for M. Tech, 7 M.Tech programs offered are Computer Science and Engineering, Embedded Systems, and Power Electronics and Electrical Drives, and it uses valid GATE scores or AP PGECET ranks for admissions. Every M.Tech program has an intake area of 18-24 seats, and candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech in a relevant field.

The MBA program in VCTN is based on APICET scores for admission. The total intake for the program is 120. These are 70% merit seats based on APICET. The remaining 30% are in the management quota. Candidates with any bachelor's degree can apply.

Diploma: Diploma programs are offered in various engineering disciplines, and admissions to these programs are based on the ranks of AP POLYCET (Andhra Pradesh Polytechnic Common Entrance Test). The intake varies between 30 and 120 seats depending on the program.

Commonly required documents reach with:

  • 10th and 12th Mark sheets and Certificates
  • Rank Card/Score Card of Entrance Exam
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  • Category Certificate (for reserved category candidates)
  • Domicile Certificate (if required)
  • Passport-sized Photographs
  • Aadhaar Card.
