Yogananda Institute of Technology and Science (YITS), Tirupati, has earned fame as an institution bestowing under- and post-graduate degrees in engineering. The admission process at YITS Tirupati is an attempt at choosing meritorious candidates through fair and open means. The institute adopts a merit-based admission policy, considering a candidate's performance either in the relevant state or national-level engineering entrance tests for B. Tech programs or GATE scores or other separate entrance tests for M. Tech programs. Based on the AP EAMCET scores, the B.Tech admissions are primarily made in favour of YITS Tirupati. The AP EAMCET is normally conducted every year, and qualifying this exam is a very important eligibility criterion.The Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (AP PGECET) scores are the basis for admission into the M. Tech programs. This test is especially conducted for admissions to the postgraduate engineering programs in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The minimum eligibility criteria are completion of 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as the main subjects for B. Tech programs. As for M. Tech programs, a candidate has to possess a B. Tech or B. E. degree relevant to the field from a recognized university.

Selections are based on merit list allotment through the state-level counseling. For any M. Tech program, the institute reserves the right to carry out other interviews or tests to measure candidates' competence for specialized assessment.

Admission Process Degree wise
B.Tech: YITS Tirupati has got five B.Tech programs with total 390 seats. Admissions to B.Tech programs are based on the results of AP EAMCET. The available specializations are Computer Science and Engineering (120 seats); Electronics and Communication Engineering (120 seats); Civil Engineering (60 seats); Mechanical Engineering (60 seats); and Electrical and Electronics Engineering (30 seats). The candidates should have completed their 10+2 programs in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
M.Tech: The two specializations for M.Tech are Electrical Power Systems (18 seats) and VLSI Design (12 seats); admission is mainly based on AP PGECET. Candidates must have an E degree or B.Tech in the field of interest. Selection may also involve GATE scores or a in-house test conducted by the institution.
