Hi Rohith,

The 1 mol of an ideal gas is compressed reversible from 1 bar to 5 bar at a constant temperature of 300 K.

This is a reversible & isothermal process.

Here T=300K.

work done =−nRT*ln(P1/P2)

n=1 mole

P1=1bar P2=5bar

R=8.3144598 J. mol - 1 . K - 1 .

So,

W=-2494.2*(-1.609)=4014.26 J

So work done is 4.01 kJ. Since this is a case of ideal gas, so the work done is positive.

Hope this helps!
