M.Tech. in Cyber Security is a two-year degree programme at Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City, Chittoor offered by the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering.

The recent advancement of information sharing over the Internet increases cyber threats to the organizations and individuals that deal with classified information. With the rapid growth in technology, information security is becoming a challenge to organizations. It requires security related sophisticated knowledge and tools to keep the systems secure from external threats. Many surveys reveal that financial organizations, like banks and insurance companies, spend on an average 10% of their annual IT budget on cyber security. Around the world as well as in India there is a high demand for cyber security professionals who are well educated about the various aspects of cyber security.

Being an Institute of National Importance in Information Technology, IIIT Sri City is already running the B.Tech. program with Cyber Security specialization. Thus, the M.Tech.in Cyber Security program will boost the IIITS ecosystem further and will produce highly skilled manpower to the industry. The proposed program is intended to offer students a unique blend of skills which will enable them to pursue a career in academia, research or industry. The program is designed to provide students with the necessary foundations for tackling key cyber security challenges, and allows students to study electives which will further enhance their skills in their interested areas. The overarching objective of this program is to train students to become cyber security professionals in such a way that they can become world leaders in cyber security and shape India's future in a better way.

The curriculum of M.Tech Programme is. A total of 64 credits is necessary for completing graduation requirements. The total number of 64 credits is divided into two parts: a) course work that spans over the first two semesters requires the completion of 40 credits and b) the project work requires the completion of 24 credits that lead to M.Tech Dissertation.

Eligibility Criteria

GATE Category

GATE candidates with B.Tech./B.E. in CSE/ECE/equivalent branches are eligible to apply for admission through Centralized Counselling for MTech (CCMT) portal.
In the GATE category, candidates should have a valid GATE score.
In the GATE category, candidates have to follow the procedures of CCMT for the admission.
GATE category candidates have to choose IIIT Sri City in CCMT portal in order to get admission at IIIT Sri City.
The eligibility criteria for the GATE candidates will be governed by the CCMT rules.

Non-GATE Category

Non-GATE candidates with B.Tech./B.E. in CSE/ECE/equivalent branches are eligible to apply for admission through the institute admission process.
In the qualifying degree, the candidates should have passed and secured at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC, whereas 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% in case of SC/ST/PwD candidates. The above mentioned CGPA/Percentage should be awarded by a recognized University/Institute.
Only the primary mode of evaluation (CGPA or percentage) as mentioned in the qualifying degree certificate/mark sheet shall be considered while verifying eligibility.
Conversion from CGPA to percentage or vice versa given by individual Institute/university will not be allowed.
In case, the result of the qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted to a candidate subject to meeting above minimum qualifying degree requirements latest by September 15, 2021. In these cases, all exams should have been completed by July 30, 2021. A certificate from the head of the current institute to that effect should be submitted during document verification

Admission Details

The M.Tech.selection process is described below. The admission of GATE qualified candidates having valid GATE score is done through CCMT. However, the admission to Non-GATE students is done based on the institute admission process.

GATE candidates through Centralized Counselling for MTech (CCMT 2021)

In the GATE category, candidates should have a valid GATE score.
GATE category candidates have to choose IIIT Sri City in CCMT portal in order to get admission at IIIT Sri City.
Candidates have to follow the procedures of CCMT for the admission.
The eligibility criteria for the GATE candidates will be governed by the CCMT rules.

Non-GATE with an undergraduate degree from CFTI institutes

The CFTI applicants will be screened on the basis of their previous academic records and must have at least 8.0 CGPA and demonstrated potential by means of excellence through projects and activities.
The screened candidates have to appear for a Coding Test and an Interview at IIIT Sri City, Chittoor.

Non-GATE General candidates (Non CFTI or CFTI with < 8.0 CGPA)

The applicants will be screened on the basis of their previous academic records.
The screened candidates have to appear for a written exam at IIIT Sri City, Chittoor. The syllabus of the test is similar to GATE. The outcome of the test will be used to do the second screening.
Those who pass for the second screening have to appear for a Coding Test and an Interview at IIIT Sri City, Chittoor.
