Assam Energy Institute, Sivasagar (AEI) is one of the premier institutions offering diversified integrated Diploma and B.Tech courses besides doctoral courses in nearly all the disciplines of engineering studies.

For undergraduate admission, AEI only considers the marks a candidate has secured in his/ her H.S.L.C or any other similar test. Thus, academic record holders opt for the Integrated Diploma and B.Tech course. It is much sterner at AEI because here it first takes a written examination and then shortlisted candidates have to undergo interviews.

Courses at the undergraduate level include Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Fire and Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Petroleum Engineering. AEI offers courses for Ph.D. in various engineering disciplines except Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics as basic sciences.

Application Process

Integrated Diploma and B.Tech Courses:
1. Must have passed 10th Standard or equivalent.
2. Online application form is available on institute's official website
3. Students must fill up the respective application forms along with a photocopy of required documents.
4. The selection will be based on a merit list prepared from marks obtained in H.S.L.C. or equivalent examination.

For Ph.D. Programs:
1. The candidates will have to verify their eligibility for the particular concerned Ph.D. program which they want to pursue.

3. Application Form to be submitted along with application fee and requisite documents.
4. Eligible candidates are called for a written test (Exempted Category).
5. On performance in the written test, selected candidates are called for interview.

Diploma and B.Tech Integrated Programs: The seven integrated Diploma and B.Tech courses of the college have intake capacity in the following disciplines:

All the above merit-based courses for admission to these programs as per the marks obtained in H.S.L.C or any equivalent exam. All branches of Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electronics and Instrumentation Engg, Maths, Petroleum Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engg, Fire and Safety Engineering have been covered by the Ph.D.s provided by AEI.

Screening is done on applicants seeking admission to the doctoral programs provided by the institute through

1. written test.
2. Interview for short-listed candidates.

Applicants in the following categories are exempted from the written test

• External, Sponsored, and Part-Time Registration categories
• Scholars with National Level Scholarships
• Meritorious students of premier colleges (CFI/CFTI) with a CPI of 8.00 or above
• SC/ST candidates are given relaxation of 5% in qualifying marks of the written test and/or interview.

6. Final selection will be made based on overall performance in the written test and interview.
