Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata is a centenary institute offering specialized education in fisheries science, and its primary objective is to provide quality education and research possibilities in all fields related to fishes and aquatic cultures. Intake capacity for the program is between 6 to 10 seats.

Ph.D. programs
CIFE Kolkata offers Ph.D programs in various specializations of fisheries science for students interested in advanced research. The specializations under this program include Fisheries Resource Management, Aquaculture, Post Harvest Technology, Fish Genetics, Fish Biotechnology, Fish Nutrition and Feed Technology, Fish Physiology and Biochemistry, Fisheries Economics, Fisheries Extension, Aquatic Environmental Management, and Aquatic Animal Health Management. To join the Ph.D programs, an entrance test is held, which is part of the admission procedures that most of the Ph.D courses are subjected to.
