CIT Sandwich Polytechnic College, Coimbatore Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College has Our Polytechnic boys accommodated in the Kailash Block of the Hostel Complex. The general management of the Hostel shall be vested with the Principal who is also the Chief Warden. He is assisted by the Deputy Warden and the Resident Tutor. The application for admission to the hostel shall be made to the warden in the prescribed form with a registration fee. The details of Hostel Fees, Room Rent, other Establishment Charges, and Mess Bill payment can be obtained from the Hostel Office. The hostel runs a dispensary managed by a qualified pharmacist. The cost of medicines supplied to the inmates will be recovered from them along with their hostel dues. 

The College has a separate library with a collection of text and reference books, magazines and journals, CD-ROMs, etc. All the students/staff members are given an identity card bearing their bar-coded roll number/identity number. Every faculty and student is eligible to borrow five and two books at a time respectively.  Books will be issued only on the presentation of identity cards.  Books on dues should be returned on or before the due date. With a view to helping the poor and deserving students, a Book Bank has been functioning in the Institute since 1976. It has a collection of 700 textbooks. Students can get a book at the beginning of the academic year. on submission of the application in the prescribed form The loan period is a maximum of one year. Staff and students can access the e-journals subscribed to by the CIT library after getting prior permission from the Librarian of CIT. These e-journals can be accessed anywhere within our campus.    

The College has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

The College has a well-equipped conference hall with a seating capacity of 100. The conference hall has a smartboard, LCD projector, and Wi-Fi-enabled Public Address system. The CIT auditorium with a seating capacity of 1500 and modern audio and video aids is utilized effectively for organizing POLY FEST a cultural extravaganza of CITES PC, workshops, conferences, and other student activities. The modern furnished and acoustically designed Seminar Halls at CIT are also used for organizing and executing various co-curricular and extracurricular student activities.

The College has a Placement Cell headed by a staff member holding the rank of a Professor. The Cell is involved in securing placements for students passing out from the college. The placement cell keeps close association with various industrial establishments, which conduct pre-placement presentations, and campus interviews and select student representatives from each department to co-ordinate the placement activities. The Placement Cell provides state-of-the-art infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests, and interviews. The Placement Cell enhances the students’ general aptitude and communication skills. A large number of national and multinational companies visit the college every year for Campus recruitment. Information regarding the campus recruitment process is displayed to the students. It helps students to plan their careers by providing information about the industries that approach the institute.

The College has a Red Ribbon Club at CIT Sandwich Polytechnic College was established in the year 2006. Red Ribbon has been an international symbol of HIV/AIDS awareness since 1991. The objective of the Red Ribbon Club is to create awareness among students on STD/HIV/AIDS and make them effective peer educators within and outside the campus in collaboration with Tamilnadu State AIDS Control Society. Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a movement started by the Government of India in educational institutes through which students will be made aware of AIDS and it stands in support of those who suffer from AIDS. It is a youth initiative on HIV/AIDS. The activities are implemented through the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell by conducting Awareness Programmes and Blood Donation Camps.

The College has a National Service Scheme (NSS) that was introduced in Polytechnic Colleges in the State of Tamilnadu in the years 1983-1984. The National Service Scheme in CIT Sandwich Polytechnic College was established in the year 1988. The main aim of the NSS is to involve the Diploma Students on a voluntary basis in various activities of Social Services and National Development while making a contribution to socio-economic progress. It would also provide opportunities for the students to understand and appreciate the problems of the communities, awaken social consciousness, and inculcate in them, a sense of dignity of labour. There has been a great deal of enthusiasm among the students in various programs taken up under the scheme. At the same time, there has been a demand from several sectors that should be provided to the Youth going out of the Universities and Colleges to opportunity engage themselves on a timely basis for a specific period in activities of social and national service.
