DAV College of Engineering and Technology, Kanina Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college provides has Separate hostels for boys with a homely environment and parental care. Each room is provided with a ceiling fan, tables, chairs, cupboards, etc. Bathrooms are kept ultra-clean and are fitted with geysers. Various recreational facilities comprise of TV (with Dish TV connection), indoor games, and a well-equipped gymnasium. Each floor is having one water cooler with a water purifier to provide cold water to the residents in the summer season. Reading the material in the form of NEWS papers and magazines is available in the hostel. To make the energy-efficient students are advised to use CFL tube lights that have been installed in the entire hostel premises. The hostel mess provides vegetarian, nutritious, and hygienic food. There is a Cooperative system of mess in the hostel. Students manage the affairs of mess in consultancy with the Hostel Warden and Principal. There is a mess managing committee of students representing the students of all departments, which looks after the mess activities including the kitchen materials. The committee on a rotation basis also facilitates the activities related to cleanliness, discipline, water-saving, gardening, and controlling of food wastage, etc All efforts are made by the administration to make the residents feel at home and to make the environment conducive for studies. Medical facilities are provided by the college to all residents along with 24 hours ambulance facility. All the hostels are provided with 24 hours of Internet connectivity through the physical and wireless modes. The college has 24 Hrs. power backup through a newly installed silent 125KVA Generator. Drinking (Alcoholism), Smoking, Raging, Drug Abuse, and any unhealthy practices or any kind of violence which is prohibited by law are strictly prohibited on the campus. Hostel warden, as well as Anti Ragging Squad, are deputed to monitor the situation inside the campus and hostels to ensure such kind of unpleasant events do not occur.

The college Library collectively supports the teaching, research, and extension programs of the Institute. All students and faculty members of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and humanities offer library services through its various divisions. Initially set up in 2002 in Academic Block (Drawing Hall), the Library was shifted to Knowledge Development Centre in 2006 after being inaugurated by our honorable CM, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Library Computerization: The Library uses the LIBSYS software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The software consists of modules on acquisition, cataloging, circulation, serials, article indexing, and OPAC, set up, tables and utilities. The retrospective conversion of bibliographic records is in process. Bibliographic records of books available in the Library can now be accessed through the campus OPAC. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on a day-to-day basis with details of recently acquired books. The editing and updating activities are in progress. Bar Code-based Circulation System The system is in the process of generating barcodes for books and members of the library. The same will be successfully implemented for the circulation activities, by using the barcode. Digital Library Online access to the e-resource of the Digital Library portals of Springer Link. These e-resources are IP enabled, can be accessed anywhere on the campus. Resources Books - 15,000On-Line Journals Springer link Reports/Conference Proceedings - 304Cd’s - 450 Printed Journals - 66.

The College has a well-equipped sports department. The entire Sports Complex is spread in an area of 10 Acres. The Sports Complex has one Multipurpose Hall for Indoor games i.e. Badminton, Table-Tennis, Carom board, Chess, Multi-Gym, Yoga, and Weightlifting, Two cemented Cricket pitches, one ground each for Football, Cricket and Athletic Track of 200 meters and two Volley grounds. In addition, two cemented Basketball courts, one Lawn Tennis Hardcourt. Timings for Sports activities are Morning 6.00 A.M. to 8.00 A.M. and Evening 4.00 P.M. to 7.00 P.M. for College students and Staff Members. The Sports Equipments/ kits are issued to the students during tournaments. The Inter-Branches Tournaments have been conducted in various games annually i.e. Chess, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Cross-Country Race, Volleyball shooting and smashing Cricket, and Annual Athletic Meet. Sports facilities for indoor games are also being created in the Boys and Girls Hostels.

The college has an excellent Computer Centre Equipped with WIPRO, IBM latest configuration Computers with 1GB RAM. It allows the Students /Faculty to cope with the latest information and technology in relevant fields through an 8 Mbps dedicated broadband link from BSNL. The institute timings are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM but the Computer Centre remains open up to 7:00 PM evening. The Centre also facilitates the access of E-Journal to share Knowledge in the latest research areas for the researcher.

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students.

The College has an excellent transport facility for the faculty, staff, and students with a flexible and competitive fare. The college buses are operated on different routes. The transport facility remains available for any kind of emergency round-the-clock.

Understanding the need and importance of the Internet in the field of education the college, Kanina campus is supported by round Wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi) of 8 Mbps and has a strong backbone of 10 access point links throughout the campus which covers each and every corner of the campus including hostels (boys/girls). With the help of which the students can access online information anywhere in and around the campus using their Laptops even after the normal college hours.
