Dr. Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College, Solapur, DVMGMC for short, is undoubtedly one of the many excellent medical institutions under government control. The admission into DVMGMC is merit-based and strictly follows national standards of medical admissions. The admission cycle for the DVMGMC usually opens in May-June for the academic year that commences in August-September. The admission process for undergraduate programs is mainly through NEET UG, while for postgraduate admission, it follows NEET PG.  For admission into MBBS programs, students must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects. Generally, a student must have a minimum of 50 percent marks in the qualifying examination. For postgraduate applicants, their MBBS degree must be from a reputed university.

Admission Process Degree Wise

MD: The college offers a range of MD courses with 44 seats available through 9 different specializations. Admission is through NEET PG followed by counseling. Some of the specializations include General Medicine (11 seats), Pediatrics (8 seats), Anaesthesiology (7 seats), Social and Preventive Medicine (7 seats), Pathology (7 seats), among others.

MS: DVMGMC has allocated 25 seats for MS programs across 5 specializations. Admission is through NEET PG. The specialties are: Obstetrics and Gynaecology (9 seats), General Surgery (8 seats), Anatomy (3 seats), Ophthalmology (3 seats), and ENT (3 seats).

Diploma: The college also provides 12 seats for different diploma courses across 8 specializations. These are admission based on NEET PG scores.
