Ganapati Institute of Engineering and Technology, Cuttack Admission Process
Ganapati Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET), Cuttack, is a constituent institute of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), an engineering college that operates diploma courses in various streams of engineering with a structured admission procedure to choose efficient candidates.
The primary mode of admission to GIET is through the Diploma Admission Counselling (DAC) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTE&T), Government of Odisha. The centralized counseling system makes the process of choosing candidates for the various diploma courses of the institute transparent and fair.
GIET has an overall intake capacity of students as 807 under its diploma courses. The admission process usually starts after the declaration of qualifying exam results, usually in May-June months. Degree wise Admission Process
Diploma Courses:
GIET offers five three-year diploma courses in engineering. All of them accept students through the DAC conducted by DTE&T, Odisha. The details of the programs are as follows:
1. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering: It has an approved intake of 120 seats. Students interested in mechanical systems and manufacturing processes can apply for this course.
2. Diploma in Electrical Engineering: The course has an approved 90-seats intake and is for students who are interested in electrical systems and electricity supply.
3. Diploma in Civil Engineering: The course has 60 seats and focuses on infrastructure and construction technologies.
4. Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering: This diploma also boasts an approved strength of 60 seats and is ideal for candidates who wish to pursue computer systems and software development.
5. Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: Having 30 seats, the course is ideal for candidates who wish to pursue electronic circuits and communications technology.
The admission criteria for all the aforementioned diploma courses are typically requirement of successful pass in 10th standard or equivalent from any approved board. Subject criteria and minimum marks have been laid down by the DTE&T, Odisha, but can vary slightly for each one of the courses.
