The GRT Institute of Engineering and Technology, Thiruvallur, kannam college in Tamil Nadu for engineering and management. The admissions to GRT Institute are pretty much in sync with that of the other Tamil Nadu universities, beginning mostly in May-June for the academic year that commences from August-September. About the admission for students to undergraduate engineering programs, it will be through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling taking into consideration the marks obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent). Considering the UG engineering programs, generally it would be that the eligibility would require completion of the 10+2 or equivalent program with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects. For the MBA program, however, getting a bachelor degree in just about any stream from any recognized university is a must. Cutoff marks or marks percentage vary considerably from year to year depending upon competition and capacity of available seats.
Application Process
Application procedure varies across programs for GRT Institute of Engineering and Technology:
For B.E. Programs:
1. Qualify the required subjects and minimum marks in the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
2. Apply to the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling procedure.
3. Fill the online TNEA application form and pay the prescribed fee.
4. During counselling, give preferences to GRT Institute and the courses of interest.
5. If a seat is allotted, go to GRT Institute for document verification and admission formalities.
For the MBA program:
1. Undertake the Tamil Nadu common entrance test (TANCET)
2. Register for the TANCET MBA counseling.
3. Fill out appropriate application forms and submit necessary fees.
4. Attend other stages of selection organized by the institute, which may comprise group discussions and interviews.
5. Selected cases complete the admission procedure accompanied by document submission and payment of fees.
Degree-wise Admission Process
B.E Programs: GRT Institute offers seven undergraduate engineering programs Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering ,Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Biomedical Engineering. Thus, for admissions in these programs, students can seek admission through the TNEA counselling process. The total approved intake for Bachelor of Engineering is 450 seats, and Computer Science and Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science offer the highest incubation with 120 seats each.
The institute also maintains an MBA program that has an approved intake of an additional 120 seats. Admission for the MBA program thus relies upon scores from TANCET. Candidates qualifying in TANCET are mostly invited for the next rounds of selection along with group discussions and personal interviews.
