IES College of Engineering, Thrissur Admission Process

IES College of Engineering, Thrissur, is a reputed institution in the engineering realm offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering. The college has an organized admission procedure for selecting the deserving candidates for various programs offered by the institution. The IESCE has an AICTE approval, and NAAC accreditation stands to guarantee regarding education quality.

The major admission cycle for IESCE is in accordance with the academic year, mostly during August-September. KEAM scores primarily served for admissions to the undergraduate programs of the college.

The eligibility varies for different programs. For admission to B.Tech courses, candidates will have to complete their plus-two in which Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are the main subjects. And the minimum aggregate is usually around 50 to 55% in the above-mentioned subjects. For M.Tech admission in any program, the candidate should possess a B.Tech degree or any other equivalent degree as awarded in that program, and is often required to score about 60% or equivalent CGPA.

Application Process

Application to IES College of Engineering, Thrissur, is course-wise, in favor of the courses chosen by the candidates:

For B.Tech Programs:

1. Appear for the KEAM examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Kerala
2. Register for KEAM and fill out the application form on the website.
3. Payment of the application fee.
4. Submit the complete application with necessary documents.
5. Wait for the KEAM rank list to be published.
6. Attend the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) conducted by the Government of Kerala.
7. For those allotted a seat in IESCE, report to the college for document verifying and admission confirmation.

For M.Tech Programs:

1. Obtain a valid GATE score.
2. Refer to the college's official website for M.Tech admission announcements.
3. Download and fill the IESCE M.Tech application form.
4. Submit the application form, GATE scorecard, and other relevant documents.
5. Make the application fee payment as instructed by the institute.
6. An interview may be conducted for the shortlisted candidates at the institute.
7. The selection will be based on the GATE score and the interview performance, if applicable.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.Tech: The IESCE has seven B.Tech programs: Computer Science and Engineering, Data Science, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. Admission to B.Tech is based on KEAM scores for all B.Tech programs. The intake capacity per program varies between 30 to 60 seats, in total not exceeding 270 across all B.Tech programs.

M.Tech: The three M.Tech programs are Computer Science and Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and VLSI Design, in which 18 students are admitted each year. Admission is based on GATE scores, followed by an interview that may be conducted. An applicant must hold a B.Tech or a relevant equivalent qualification in the field in order to be considered.

The commonly accepted documents for admission are:

  • Keam/Gate scorecard (as applicable)
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
  • Degree certificates and Mark sheets (in case of M.Tech)
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste/category certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Aadhar card
  • Any other documents specified by the college at the time of admission.
