Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences (IGIDS), Pillaiyarkuppam, is a well-known dental school. The institute provides extensive dental education courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The admission procedure of IGIDS rests mainly upon national-level entrance exams. Application Process
Application procedure for joining IGIDS differs for each program:
For BDS Program:
1. Sit for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
2. Clear NEET with the necessary cut-off score.
3. Get registered with the counseling process organized by the concerned authority.
4. Select IGIDS and the BDS program while undergoing counseling.
5. In case of a seat being allocated, report to IGIDS for document verification and admission procedures.
For MDS Programs:
1. Take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS).
2. Pass NEET MDS with a cut-off score.
3. Get registered in the counseling process organized by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
4. Select IGIDS and preferred MDS specialty while undergoing counseling.
5. In case of allotment of seat, report to IGIDS for document verification and admission procedure.
Degree wise Admission Process
BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): The entry to the BDS course in IGIDS is determined by the performance of the candidate in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The institute has an intake of 100 students for this 5-year undergraduate course. The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects to be considered for admission.
MDS (Master of Dental Surgery): IGIDS has MDS courses in nine specializations in dentistry with an intake of 3 students per course.
Admission to all the MDS courses is in the same way following these steps:
1. Candidates should clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS).
2. Admission is solely on the basis of merit in NEET MDS.
3. The counseling process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), formed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
4. Candidates are given seats on the basis of NEET MDS rank and choices while undergoing the counseling process.
