Kottai Mariyamman Polytechnic College, Salem was established in the year 2008, which is an affiliated college. Situated across an area of 5.24 acres this AICTE approved polytechnic offers diploma courses in various fields of engineering. The college has the total intake of 577 total numbers of students and faculties of 60, which make a healthy student-teacher ratio. The institution provides six, Three-year full time dipoma courses for various branches of engineering Mechanical, civil, Automobile, electrical and Electronics, Electronics and communication and computer engineering.

Kottai Mariyamman Polytechnic College has some of the following facilities that make up campus and support the education of the students. It has 6000 books of different disciplines stocked, opened 12 hours daily, and facilities a full computerised system for ease of access. It boasts of well-equipped laboratories in which practical know-how is gained through pragmatic training. These various labs are most useful for the computer engineering students indulged in various live project scenarios. The college also has a fine IT system for the enhancement of current methods of learning to enhance the college. Concerning the bodily health of the students, there are sports facilities and a gym on the campus. A cafeteria properly serves both staff and students for their meals and snacks. The college also offers transport facilities and at the present employs six buses to transport students who live in different parts of the city.

Kottai Mariyamman Polytechnic College has a total of six diploma courses and all the courses are conducted as full time courses. Out of the 7 programmes offered, Directory of Mechanical Engineering has the largest enrolment with 120 arises,the other six programmes; Civil Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering each have 60 intakes. This has taken the total student enrolment to 420 across all disciplines and classes. The organisational culture regarding the delivery of education is consistent with the college’s mission since each programme of study is developed to deliver theoretical knowledge in addition to the essential practical skills for a particular field.

The admission procedure practiced in the Kottai Mariyamman Polytechnic College is very much transparent and quite easy.
