MGMDCH, Navi Mumbai is one of the most well-known dental colleges. The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in various dental specializations. MGMDCH adopts a very rigorous admission process which is designed to select the best candidates for the programs. The admission cycle of MGMDCH is in most cases aligned with the national entrance examination schedules. Undergraduate admissions are based on the scores obtained from the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, whereas postgraduate admissions are based on the scores of the NEET MDS examination. The academic year typically begins in August-September, and admission processes begin a few months in advance.
For the BDS program, candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31st of the admission year. They need to score a minimum of 50th percentile in the NEET examination for the respective academic year. The college has an approved intake of 100 seats for the BDS program.
For the postgraduate admission of MDS programs, candidates need to score up to 50th percentile in NEET MDS examination. M G M D C H offers its MDS programmes in various disciplines like Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral Pathology and Periodontics with intake ranging from 2-4 seats each discipline.
Application Process
Each programme procedure for application for MGMDCH is as given below:
BDS Programme
- Qualified NEET exam.
- Minimum 50th percentile.
- State-level or institutional counseling.
- Submit the documents such as NEET score card, 10+2 mark sheet, age proof and all other certificates as per requirement.
- Admission procedure like fee payment would be done if selected.
MDS Programmes
- Qualified NEET MDS examination.
- Qualified for minimum 50th percentile in NEET MDS.
- Apply through the centralized admission process or as guided by the institute.
- Attend counseling, if shortlisted.
- Submit all required documents, which include NEET MDS score card, BDS degree certificate, completion of internship certificate, and all other relevant documents.
- Complete the admission process and pay fees if selected.
PhD Programs:
- The requirements for PhD programs vary depending on the specialisation chosen.
- Apply to the institute through the process announced.
- Report for more tests or interviews if required by the department
- Postgraduate degree certificates, research proposal, and any other credentials submission
- Admission formalities if selected.
Degree wise Admission Process
BDS: The MGMDCH takes in 100 intake seats for BDS. Admission would be made purely on NEET score. A candidate must be 17 years old by 31st December of the year for admission and above 50th percentile score in NEET.
MDS Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics: Intake 3 seats in postgraduate courses. For getting an admission in that course, one must obtain more than 50th percentile scores in NEET MDS.
MDS Prosthodontics Crown and Bridge: With 3 seats, the admission would need a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET MDS.
MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: The course would provide 4 seats. For getting the admission, the student would have to achieve the minimum of 50th percentile in NEET MDS.
MDS Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics: This is a speciality with 2 seats. For admission, candidates must secure a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET MDS.
MDS Oral Pathology and Oral Microbiology: The total number of seats is 3. The requirement for the entrance is to attain at least a 50th percentile in NEET MDS.
MDS Periodontics: It contains 3 seats with a requirement to attain a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET MDS for entrance.
PhD Programs: MGMDCH offers PhD programmes in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, and Periodontology. Each programme contains 6 seats except for the Periodontology which has only 3. The admission in PhD programmes requires additional requirements above NEET score.
