Premakanthi College of Education, Mangalore was started in the year 2006, which focuses on a regular course in teacher education affiliated to the Mangalore University. This institution is situated at Mannagudda Mangalore, Karnataka and this institution occupies an area of 2.87 acres. For the education of the teachers, the college is approved by National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE It complies with the quality standards with the government. The current student population of Premakanthi College of Education is 59 and the faculty has nine teachers therefore providing a small knit environment that prepares teachers. At this institution, only one degree is offered under the faculty of Education: the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), which is a two-year full time study.

Premakanthi College of Education has multiple inputs to facilitate the learning and development of students. A voluminous library is the academic focal point of the campus having thousands of text books, reference books and periodicals. It also has reading corner and digital facility of CD-ROMs according to the facilities of the students. In as much as technology based learning is concerned, a properly equipped computerised lab with internet connection and Wi-Fi is provided. Like many colleges in India, this college, too, provides hostilities for both males and female students with a ward for each gender. These hostels contain several rooms for the sharing of accommodation, classes, and other general sleeping, and recreational rooms. A college spirit possesses adequate amenities for movement games and bodily activities, and an auditorium is available for general meetings and conferences. Special diets are provided for in a canteen within the school compound for students and other members of staff. Also, it is using buses to help ferry people from the college to the hostels or any other place which may be required.

Since Premakanthi College of Education offers only B.Ed programme in its curriculum, the intake capacity is approved for 100 students only. Such a result can be attributed to the fact that this specialised approach enables the institution to channel its resources as well as the requisite academic focus towards the effective training of educators. The B.Ed course is offered as a five-semester programme, enables the student to understand the theoretical framework that underlines the teaching learning process, and to develop the necessary skills to become an effective teacher in the field of their specialisation.
