Namagira Valley Technical College commonly known as RV Teachers College is among the oldest private colleges in India that was founded in 1954 is situated in Jayanagar, Bangalore. This co-education college is recognized by Bangalore University and is imparting exposures to the potential teachers for more than six-‘sevendecade. Credited by NCTE, RV Teachers College provides excellent teacher education programs at its small 1.3 acre campus. This means that out of 142 students in the college, there are 13 teachers in tact making the student teacher ratio which is impressive and allows for one on one tuition.

Among facilities available in Namagira Valley Technical College , a number of them seeks to improve the teaching and learning environment of the students. A well furnished library works as an information centre, stacked general to special references, new periodicals, national/international journals, CDs and internet facility through INFLIBNET. The campus has wireless connectivity thus enhancing easy access to electronic instructional materials. As for the physical education students of the college, athletic facilities such as basketball, throwball and volleyball facilities are available. In its premise, qua activities, exercise and yogic activities are performed frequently to enhance the health of learners. The institution also has a functional computer laboratory where student-teachers learn about use of educational resources online and teaching with Technology. An ultra modern air-conditioned auditorium with a seating capacity of over 500 students is used for academic as well as cultural activities. The college does not possess a hostel of its own; however facilities are available in management’s hostel as accommodation for its sister institutions.

RV Teachers College offers two full-time courses in teacher education: In the country, we take Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) and Masters of Education (M.Ed). The B.Ed programme offered at the institution is a two-year programme, with the capacity to admit one hundred pre-service students The M.Ed programme which is also a two-year programme supports the B.Ed. Such programmes are specifically meant to prepare students with both theoretical and practical knowledge in education to enable them to practice as educators in the future.

Thus, the admission of students at RV Teachers College relies on marks scored in a qualifying examination and/or an entrance examination. For the B.Ed programme, admission policy of the state government, UT administration, and the university is followed in the college. Likewise, admission for M. Ed are meritorious intakes of performance in the qualifying examination, entrance test or any other mode as per the ruling government and university regulation.

Teachers College is proud to have active Alumni Association that has been in existence for over fifty years. This association has a very important task – to care about the communication between the former and current students, as well as, in some cases, to participate in the construction of a college. The college also has amenities like a cafeteria, accomodation for guest speakers and visitors, and functional and well resourced laboratories to cater for the students’ needs related to their college and course activities.
