Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology, Barabanki Admission Process

Sherwood College of Engineering Research and Technology (SCERT) is a constituent college at Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. The institute follows a proper admission procedure according to the guidelines issued by the Academic Council of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow. SCERT offers various courses in engineering at the undergraduate level with a focus on providing good quality technical education.

The SCERT admission process is usually on the AKTU academic schedule, normally opening in May-June for the August-September beginning academic year admission. The institute principally admits through entrance examinations, of which B.Pharma is an accepted exam to take admission for B.Tech courses.

For Undergraduate admissions, students should have passed their 10+2 from a valid board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. While no minimum cutoff marks are specified, the students must possess a sound academic record in the above subjects.

Application Procedure

The admission procedure for the application to join SCERT's B.Tech courses is the following:

1. Entrance Test: The applicants need to sit for the entrance test as stipulated. Even though B.Pharma has been listed as one of the recognized exams, it is highly likely that other engineering entrance tests like JEE Main or UPCET are also accepted.

2. Application Submission: After the entrance exam results are declared, the eligible candidates may submit their application to SCERT. The application is typically submitted online on the official website of AKTU or SCERT.

3. Document Verification: The shortlisted candidates have to submit documents required for verification. These can be:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Entrance exam score card
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (if required)
  • Character certificate of the institution last attended

4. Counselling Process: Shortlisted candidates might be asked to undergo a counselling process carried out by AKTU for allotment of seats.

5. Confirmation of Admission: Once allotted a seat in SCERT, candidates need to confirm their admission by paying the fee and providing all documents within the specified time frame.

6. Reporting to the Institute: Admitted students are requested to report at SCERT on the date of commencement of the academic session as per schedule.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Tech Programs:
SCERT offers B.Tech in five disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. All the B.Tech courses follow the same admission process under the guidelines set by AKTU.

  • Computer Science and Engineering: It offers intake of 90 seats. On the basis of the performance in the entrance test as stipulated and AKTU regulations, it makes selection.
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering: Having intake of 90 seats, even this course strictly adheres to AKTU admission processes keeping the marks in entrance exams into view for the choice.
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Offers 60 seats. Admission is as per other B.Tech courses under AKTU guidelines.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Since there is an intake of 60 students, the course adheres to admission based on entrance test marks and AKTU regulations.
  • Civil Engineering: There are 60 seats for this course as well. The admission pattern is the same as it is for other B.Tech courses in SCERT.

Diploma Programs
SCERT also offers diploma courses in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, these would likely follow a different admissions procedure, which may be at the state level through diploma entrance exams or the 10th standard marks.
