University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chandigarh Admission Process

University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Chandigarh, is a flagship constituent college of Panjab University that offers high-quality pharmaceutical education. The institute has a merit-based and competitive admission procedure for its various programs in pharmaceutical sciences. UIPS is PCI-approved, guaranteeing that its education is of the same standards as the industry.

The admission process for the most part begins in the pre-academic year months, i.e., August-September. For undergraduate admission, UIPS considers marks of Panjab University Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (PU CET). Postgraduate admission is based on the candidate's B.Pharma marks along with Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) marks.

Application Process

UIPS application procedure is different based on the course:

For B.Pharma:

1. Register for the Panjab University Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (PU CET).
2. Appear in the PU CET exam on the specified date.
3. Upon declaration of results, short-listed candidates should apply for admission to UIPS on the Panjab University admissions portal.
4. Upload relevant documents, 10+2 mark sheets, PU CET score card, etc., as given.
5. Pay the fee as specified on the university's website.
6. Wait for the merit list publication.
7. In case of selection, complete admission formalities like document verification and fee payment.

For M.Pharma:

1. Appear for the Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT).
2. After declaration of GPAT results, shortlisted candidates can submit their admission application for UIPS through the prescribed admission portal.
3. Submit the said documents like B.Pharma mark sheets, GPAT score card, and other certificates.
4. Remit the fee as determined by the institute.
5. The institute will draw up a merit list on the basis of the cumulative score of B.Pharma marks (30% weightage) and GPAT score (70% weightage).
6. The shortlisted candidates may be invited for counseling or document verification.
7. Final admission will be provided on the basis of the merit list and the availability of seats in the chosen specialization.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: The B.Pharma course of UIPS has an admission strength of 46 seats. Admission on the basis of merit in the performance of the candidate in the Panjab University Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (PU CET). The course duration is four years and one year fee costs approximately Rs. 70,420.

M.Pharma: UIPS offers various M.Pharma specializations with a total of 48 seats across all specializations. Admissions to all M.Pharma programs are made through combined merit calculated on the basis of:

  • Aggregate marks obtained in B.Pharma (30% weightage)
  • GPAT score (70% weightage)

M.Pharma specializations offered are:

  • Pharmaceutical Analysis (10 seats)
  • Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance (10 seats)
  • Pharmaceutics (10 seats)
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry (8 seats)
  • Pharmacognosy (5 seats)
  • Pharmacology (5 seats)

The program length is two years, and the charges range from Rs. 62,830 to Rs. 349,460, based on the specialization.

Ph.D. Pharmacy:
Ph.D. courses in Pharmacy are also offered by UIPS. The admission for Ph.D. courses may also involve further processes such as interviews or the proposal of research proposals. Specific details for Ph.D. admissions will have to be asked directly from the institute.

Admission documents generally required are:

  • Passport size photographs
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • B.Pharma degree certificate and mark sheets (for M.Pharma candidates)
  • Entrance exam score cards (PU CET for B.Pharma, GPAT for M.Pharma)

University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Punjab offers MPharm in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Admission is done on the basis of combined merit obtained from aggregate marks obtained in BPharm for which 30% weightage is provided, and GPAT scores for which 70% weightage is given. This year GPAT result was out. The cut-off of general category is 163, OBC category 131, SC category 103, ST category cutoff 76 and EWS category cutoff is 136.

You didn't mention your category above but said that you are qualified so assume that you are not in a general category student.

So ofcourse you are getting college for Mpharm. But you didn't mention which state you belongs or which college you want.
