The college infrastructure is quite good in terms of availability of modern day facilities. All the classrooms are well equipped with Wi-Fi , cctv cameras and projectors. The hostel match food is hygienic and the gardens of campus are ell maintained.
Most of the professors the pass-outs of the institute itself who later involved themselves in teaching. All of them are top researchers and mathematicians/statisticians of the country . The bachelor of statistics curriculum is very much theoretical and also includes all the recent developments. The course makes all the students job-ready but most of them take jobs after masters only.
The placement of Indian statistical Institute is unparallel. According to the past year statistics the highest package was of 89 lakhs per annum the median salary stood somewhere between 30 to 40 lakhs per annum while the average package was more than at least 20 lakhs per annum. All the big multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart ,optiver ,JP Morgan & Jane Street etc. recruit each year from the campus.
The course requires no fees instead the institute provides stipend to every student who have at least 60% in the semester with no compulsory backlogs. The money is absolutely worth it if you study hard.
Campus life is not that happening. The gender ratio is very bad. The student involvement in co-curricular activities is very less. The annual fest name is integration but it is not happening this year. The colleges quiet accessible from all parts of the city with all modes of transport from metro station to airport.
Bachelor of statistics curriculum is very difficult. come only if you love the subject
The college is more than 100 years old but the infrastructure is quite well maintained even till today. Specially the biology laboratories and computer lab are like that of world class research institutes.
Students get stipend for their good academic performance here (60% plus). All the professors are PhD holders mostly from top most indian universities excellent in science. Many of them are alumnis of the college itself. The curriculum is very theoretical but our course is very much industry-oriented. But passing semester exams here is never a cake walk like engineering collegea.
ISI has the track record of placing 100% of the applied students. The highest package last year was 89 LPA by a masters student. The average is around 20-25 LPA. Companies like Google, Amazon, Adobe , JP Morgan , Jane Street and Optiver recruit from the campus each year.
The course fee is 0 for all course except BSDS . So the return of investment is high. Student get shopping packages after graduation and decent stipends also during their studies. The hostel and mess fees along with personal expenses may cost 40000 a year altogether.
Campus life Is boring. As there are not many students in a single batch hence there are very less interactions among the students. People taking interest in co curricular activities are very much less . There are no good eating places inside campus as well. Also limited sports facilities are present that too only for football and cricket.
Come only if you are passionate about maths.
The infrastructure of the college is very good. All the classrooms are well equipped with all the modern facility a student needs from projectors to white boards. The college also has a multi gym, government canteen and also many sports facilities.
The academy coursework is very rigourous. Every professor is either an active researcher of the respective field or an active scientist of the country. So the students are highly motivated in the subject and follow their passion accordingly. Students can be seen everyday studying inside the library.
Our course is introduced this year only so our course does not have any placement statistics. But among all the colleges in the country ISI is known for its hundred percent placement record. All the big multinational tech giants like Google Microsoft Facebook Amazon Flipkart come to our campus for placements. Most probably our course students will be sitting with master students for placements in their graduating year.
The course were requires 8 lakhs for whole 4 years,Which is quite high for middle class families. The return of investment is quite good but the only problem is there is no hostel accommodation inside the campus student have to be in private accommodation in nearby the campus and Daily commute to the college being days scholars.
Campus life is not that good because there are so less number of student inside the campus. There are no good fooding options inside the campus but some good restaurants are outside the campus nearby only. The general ratio is less and participation of students in extra co-curricular activities is also very less.
Only come to ISI if you have passion for mathematics or you may regret later after joining.
The course is newly launched in hybrid mode and is run in parallel across 3 centres i.e. Kolkata, Bangalore and Delhi But the good part is all the faculty members keep visiting different centres throughout the semester.
Academic standards here at Indian Statistical Institute is quite high. The semester exams are very challenging and need great efforts to pass with flying colours. The faculties are active researchers in their respective mathematical fields and are hence are great source of knowledge and motivation.
ISI has a 100% track record when it comes to placements. As our BSDS course is newly launched it has no past record but as it is an industry oriented course so the expectations are high. Most probably the undergraduates will be allowed to sit for placements along with the masters students.
The course fees is around 2 lakhs per year which is pretty decent as compared to IITs but the only problem is there's no hostel accommodation. Hence even if you spend so much you have to spend more on food and accommodation differently apart from your tuition fees .
Campus life is not that great . As the batch sizes are small there is very small fraction of people who are interested in other things like sports and extra curricular activities apart from studies. Still the institute club hosts some monthly events . There is also gym and a football ground inside the campus for the students .
Only come to ISI iff you are passionate for maths and Don't come just because you are good at solving jee level problems. After coming to ISI , surviving without having any backlogs can become a really tedious task for you if you are not passionate for the subject.
Free Wi-Fi, medical facilities, sports facilities are available in the campus. The food in the canteen is not that . The hostel rooms are for single accommodation .In classroom there are projectors, AC and those are well maintained. There is also the availability of gym.
ISI is one the most prestigious college in India for mathematics. The teaching quality is very high here . The batch strength is low so each teacher knows every student and their performance. But the academic pressure is very high here .
Placement opportunities are very enormous here . Everyone who sits in placement get placed in big company like Goldman sachs, Morgan Stanley, Lenskart , Pwc etc . Average package is 19 lpa . Placement process is very fluent.
It is free . Yes it is literally FREE. Also they give us stipend for studying here. 8k for masters and 5k for bachelors per month.
Campuss life is not that good . People here are very academic oriented . So they don't interact that much with others .
