Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar Admission Process

The Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar (USVV) was founded in 2005 by an act of the state legislature for promoting studies in Sanskrit and rich Indian culture. The admission process of USVV is made to admit deserving candidates to various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Sanskrit and allied subjects.

The admission cycle at USVV usually starts in May and June for the academic sessions from August to September. The university offers mostly merit-based admission systems for its various programs, where the performance of the candidate in the qualifying examination is usually a significant factor. The university may also make its own entrance test for some courses OR follow admission policy of the state government or UT administration.

The eligibility criteria of courses differ program-wise. For undergraduate courses like BA Shastri (Hons), a candidate must have completed his 10+2 from a recognized board. For entering postgraduate programs such as MA in Sanskrit Sahitya or MA in Yoga, a candidate with a bachelor's degree in the relevant field may apply. The university Executive B.Ed courses following the admission policy of the State government or UT-administration of the concerned program.

Application Process

The application process for Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar, is as follows:

1. Visit the USVV website and go to the admissions section.

2. Download and fill in the application form for the program of choice. Make sure that all details are filled out accurately.

3. Collect all requisite documents, usually consisting of:

  • Passport size photographs
  • Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, Bachelor's degree as applicable)
  • Character certificate from the last-attended institution
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (for reserved category candidates)
  • Domicile certificate (if required)

4. Submit the completed application form along with all the attached documents to the university admission office before the deadline.

5. Payment for the application fee as per the university. The amount for the fee may differ for different programs and categories of applicants.

6. For the programs having entrance test, candidates must appear on the scheduled date. Admit cards would be issued by the university to the eligible candidates.

7. After the evaluation of applications (along with entrance test results where applicable), the university will publish the merit list on its official website and notice board.

8. Candidates shortlisted must report to the university for document verification and confirmation of admission within time limits set by the university.

9. Upon successful validation, pay the admission fee to secure your seat in the program.

10. Attend the orientation program and begin your academic life at USVV.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B.A. Shastri (Hons): This undergraduate program usually has an intake of 25 seats, and selection of candidates is made based on the performance in the 10+2 examination, with weighting to Sanskrit and related subjects.

B.J.: 20 seats are offered under this program for the 10+2 pass candidates for admission selection based on the academic merit.

M.A. Courses: USVV offers various M.A. courses such as in Sanskrit Sahitya, Shukla Yajurveda, Navya Vyakaran, Hindi and Bhasha Vigyan, Jyotish, History, Education, Philosophy, and Journalism. Each of these courses usually has an intake of 20 students. Selection is made on merit-based performance in the bachelor's degree.

M.A.Yoga: With 65 seats for the applicants with a bachelor's degree, selection will be purely on academic merit.

B.Ed: The intake is 100 seats for the B.Ed program. The admission process is based on merit from marks obtained in qualifying examination and/or an entrance examination as per state government/UT Administration and university policy.

PGD Program: USVV offers Postgraduate Diploma programs in Jyotish, Vastu Shastra, Karmakand and Paurohitya, Computer Applications (PGDCA), and Yoga; each of them usually has 20 seats, except PGD Yoga, which accepts 40. Admission is based on the candidate's performance during the entire bachelor's degree.

Ph.D. Programs: Ph.D. programs are conducted in the areas of Sanskrit Sahitya, Navya Vyakaran, Jyotish, Yoga, and Hindi and Bhasha Vigyan. Selection for Ph.D. programs involves an admission test which includes either or both written test and/or interview based on selection criteria.
